Croftsmuir Steading is in a superb location offering peace and quiet in some of Scotland's most beautiful countryside just 30 minutes northeast of the 'City of Discovery', Dundee and less than 5 miles from the town of Arbroath, made famous for its connection with the 1320 Declaration of Arbroath, its Abbey and Arbroath Smokies.

Carnoustie, Montrose, Brechin, Forfar, St.Andrews, Perth, Stonehaven and Aberdeen are all within easy reach making this the perfect base!

The house was once part of a dairy farm and renovated as you see it today. It has a large garden with arable land on all sides, leading to breathtaking views of the countryside with its variety of peaceful and calming landscapes.

Croftsmuir Steading Accommodation

The peaceful setting, wonderful soft furnishings, fine furniture, crisp white linen, soft duvets and superior mattresses encourage a restful night's sleep.

After a busy days pleasure or business enjoy true Scottish hospitality in the tranquility of a spacious farmhouse. Each guest room’s accommodation is peaceful and enjoys a magnificent outlook with all the essential facilities for a relaxing stay.

Tay View is a modern furnished room with two single beds and an adjacent shower room with toilet. There are chairs, a clothes rail and hot drinks tray for your use. It has outstanding views of the fertile Arbirlot parish in the foreground falling down to the Tay estuary and beyond to Tentsmuir and St Andrews in Fife. Arbroath can be seen in the distance.

Conon Corner is a modern furnished room with two single beds and an adjacent shower room with toilet. There are chairs and a hot drinks tray for your use. The view leads from a working farm to the Milton of Conon where there was a medieval mill that served the ancient religious Conon barony and further to the west there is a glimpse of Redford village which developed during the expansion of the Carmyllie quarries in the nineteenth century.

The Guest Lounge is located on the first floor and is provided for our bed and breakfast guests. With the comfortable chairs provided you can relax whilst reading or watching the television at the end of a busy days business or pleasure. At the same time you are afforded a magnificent view due to Croftsmuir Steadings elevated position – approximately 430 feet (131m) above sea level looking out across Arbirlot Parish, the Tay Estuary and the North Sea.

The guest lounge has comfy chairs, TV and reading materials so you can relax and unwind after a busy days activities.

St.Andrews Links is renowned throughout the world as the ‘Home of Golf‘ and is the site of the largest public golfing complex in Europe with its seven courses. The Old Course is regarded as the heart of the Links and dates back some 600 years.

Arbroath Golf Course Links is laid out along a narrow strip of land located along the coast line at Arbroath. With many strategically placed bunkers and thick roughs bordering the majority of the fairways, and the Dowrie Burn cutting through the landscape threatening to consign your ball to a watery grave, Arbroath Golf course is a testing links style course.

With its elevated position, Croftsmuir Steading commands breathtaking views over Arbirlot Parish, the Tay estuary and out to the North Sea. Beyond the sight of the ships moving to and from to the port of Dundee, there is a view of the bird sanctuary of Tentsmuir in Fife, and on a clear day, there is a glimpse of Torness in East Lothian. To the right of this paramount view is the Guynd estate and further on the Panmure estate which borders the world famous Golf course at Carnoustie.


DIRECTIONS

Croftsmuir Steading is less than 10 minutes drive from the town of Arbroath and 30 minutes from the City of Discovery, Dundee. Both are linked to the national rail network and there is an airport at Dundee. And its within 2 hours drive of Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports. In short, the perfect base for your holiday.

We have also provided the GPS co-ordinates for Croftsmuir Steading. They have been tested with a TomTom Sat Nav unit and found to be correct.

Getting There by Car

From Dundee take the main route to Arbroath and after 7 miles turn left at Muirdrum to Forfar. Continue on this route for two miles then turn right on B961 to the village of Redford, then turn right to Arbroath and a mile further is CROFTSMUIR STEADING.

From Arbroath take the Arbroath-Brechin road and a mile out of Arbroath turn left to REDFORD/LETHAM
2 miles further turn left to REDFORD. A short distance along this road turn left signposted to Croftsmuir Steading.

Getting There by Railway
Arbroath is the nearest railway station.

Getting there by Aeroplane
Dundee, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports service the area.

Getting There by Ferry
Rosyth ferry could be reached in ninety minutes.
