Experience the raw grandeur and astonishing contrasts of Scotland's landscapes. Discover the romance and drama of Scottish history. Find your own magic place among purple hills and snow-clad mountain peaks. Relax and leave your cares behind. Join us in the heart of the Scottish Highlands for the holiday of a lifetime. Scandinavian Village, Aviemore, is situated in the Cairngorms National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty with rugged mountains, heather-clad hills and fascinating lochs. To the East is the world famous Cairngorm Mountain Range. The Gaelic name for the Cairngorms is Am Monadh Ruadh (the Red Hills) due to the pink granite on the plateau. However the name Cairn Gorm means Blue Mountain as the peak apparently looks blue from a distance. Cairn Gorm itself is 1245 metres high (4084 feet) and can be easily visited on a fine day in summer. For Munro Baggers the Cairngorm Range boasts no fewer than 17 Munroes, including 5 out of the 6 highest mountains in Great Britain. For the uninitiated, a Munro is a mountain rising to over 3000 feet above sea level. On our West side we are flanked by the Monadhliath (or the Grey) Mountains, which sweep westwards to the shores of the world famous Loch Ness, home of the elusive Loch Ness Monster.
