The month of May brings the annual 'Burns an' a' That!' Festival which
is one of the biggest events in the West of Scotland.
If historic castles fascinate you then, Culzean Castle, near Maybole,
which is the National Trust for Scotland's 'Jewel in the Crown' sits impressively
on the cliff-top over looking the Isle of Arran.
Other spectacular castles include Dundonald Castle, Kelburn and Dumfries
House.
Then less than an hour by ferry from the coast there is the Isle of Arran
itself and the wonderful Isle of Cumbrae.
Carbieston Lodge - Getting There:
Getting there from the Information Centre
Carbieston Lodge is about 3 miles south of Ayr on the A70 Ayr to Cumnock
road. Half a mile prior to the village of Coylton, take the turning on
the left, sign posted Uplands Road.
Take first left at the top of the hill at the white gates. This is the
drive into the Carbieston House and onto Carbieston Lodge.
Getting There by Car:
From England head towards Carlisle and then over the border into Scotland.
From there follow signs for Kilmarnock and Ayr. Within Scotland the property
is just under an hour from Glasgow and slightly more from Edinburgh, Carbieston
Lodge is about 3 miles south of Ayr on the A70 Ayr to Cumnock road. Half
a mile prior to the village of Coylton, take the turning on the left,

Getting There by Railway:
The railway station is situated centrally in Ayr. Trains run frequently
from the North and the South. Trains run to and from Glasgow (via Prestwick
Airport) every 50 minutes. There is a well serviced taxi rank. National

Getting there by Aeroplane:
Glasgow Prestwick International Airport is only approx. 8 miles away and
has its own rail station. Glasgow International Airport is about 35 miles
away. It has a bus link to Paisley Gilmour Street rail station, which
is on the main Glasgow - Ayr rail line.
