B&B is a privately owned, well-established Bed and Breakfast owned
by Jennifer Thomson and situated in Ayr on the west coast of Scotland
in the heart of Robert Burn's country Ayrshire.
Well known for it's good food and Scottish hospitality.You can have breakfast
of choice, full Scottish breakfast or Continental breakfast, Smoked salmon,variety
of cold meats, fruit,cheeses etc which ever you desire.
Prestwick International Airport is only a 10 minute drive. Newton on
Ayr Railway Station only 2 minute walk from Failte. Newton on Ayr Railway
Station (Rail link to Glasgow Prestwick Airport) Bus stop outside Failte
for all major destinations.
Ayr Racecourse is only 5 minutes by car or a pleasent 10 minute walk.
Northfield Bowling Complex is a 5 minute walk. Ayr town centre 15 minutes
walk. Local golf courses are all nearby.
All of these destinations are on Failte's doorstep.

Location:
Failte B&B is located in Ayr on the main road between Prestwick and
Ayr town centre ( A79 ) making it ideal for location for Prestwick and
Glasgow International Airports, and the Irish ferry sailing into Troon
from Larne.
Ayr town centre and railway station is within a short walk from Failte
and Glasgow city is only 40 minutes away by car. Edinburgh city centre
is a 90 minute drive.
Bus stop for Glasgow City Centre is outside Failte's door.
Ayrshire, on the south west coast of Scotland has always been a popular
short break destination and in recent years it has got easier and easier
to get to with the growth of low cost airlines such as Ryanair, fast ferries
from Ireland and improved rail and road connections including the new
M77 motorway linking Glasgow with Ayrshire.
It is now well within a couple of hour's reach of much of Europe making
it the perfect short break or golf destination.
The Isle of Arran is connected to Ayrshire via the fifty
five minute crossing on Cal Mac ferries from Ardrossan to Brodick or from
the Mull of Kintyre from Clonaig.
The following information should be of some help in planning your journey
to Ayrshire and Arran.
Glasgow Prestwick International Airport:
Prestwick Airport is located around 23 miles from Glasgow and is connected
to the city by road and rail. With the recent opening of the new M77 Ayrshire
is now less than thirty minutes drive from Glasgow city centre. Prestwick
Airport is only a few minutes from Troon and Ayr and well connected to
the rest of Ayrshire by an excellent road network.
Ryanair:
Low cost airline Ryanair fly into Prestwick from London Stansted, Bournemouth
and Dublin and Shannon in Ireland. They also fly in from Scandinavia;
Gothenburg and Stockholm Skavsta in Sweden and Oslo in Norway. There are
now three flights from Germany (Frankfurt Hahn, Hamburg and Dusseldorf),
Brussels Charleroi in Belgium and Paris Beauvais bringing together the
Auld Alliance of France and Scotland. Italy is connected via Rome Ciampino,
Pisa and Milan Orio al Serio; Spain has flights from Girona and Murcia.
P&O Irish Ferries:
P&O Irish Ferries run the fast ferry operation from Larne into Troon.
The crossing takes less than two hours from Ireland to Scotland from March
to September on the reliable P&O Express fast craft. Time on board
may be short but you'll enjoy a host of facilities including restaurant,
bar, gift shop and children's play area.
Troon is just a 10-minute drive from Ayr and 30 minutes to the city of
Glasgow, offering a whole range of destinations within easy reach. P&O

Stena Line:
Stena Line have both ferry and fast craft sailings between Belfast City
Centre to Stranraer. The sailing takes about ninety minutes on the HSS
fast ferry and the drive to the heart of Ayrshire less than an hour. Bookings

Glasgow Airport:
Glasgow Airport is situated to the west of the city making Ayrshire easily
accessible from the airport. Glasgow Airport has international flights
direct from the United States, Canada, Dubai and throughout Europe and
the UK with airlines flying inbound including easyJet, flyglobespan, British
Airways, Air Canada, Emirates, Aer Lingus, Flybe, British Midland and
Air Scotland.
The airport is now connected by motorway all the way to Ayrshire on the
M77 in less than thirty minutes.
Caledonian Macbrayne:
"Cal Mac", as they are affectionately known, sail to twenty-two
islands and four peninsulas on Scotland's West Coast. From Arran in the
south to Lewis in the north, their network covers some of the most beautiful
and dramatic places in Scotland allowing you to get away from it all by
ferry and discover a different world. Feries can be easily booked online
and advance reservations are recommended for may routes.

It has a wide range of visitor attractions across the county and Castles
and historic trails abound with many famous sites of interest and ruins
to be explored and an abundance of family attractions and outdoor sports
facilities.
History and heritage loom large with a list including
the very splendid Culzean Castle, nearby Dundonald Castle and other country
parks and castles at Kelburn and Dean. Robert Burns was born in nearby
Alloway and there are now attractions showcasing his life and works and
in May every year a festival of the arts, Burns an' a" That, celebrates
his influence.
For the Burns enthusiast or even just the casual visitor a trip to the
Burns National Heritage Park is a must. You can enjoy the audio-visual
interpretation of Tam O'Shanter Experience before strolling along the
road to visit Burns Cottage.
Continue the experience with a visit to Souter Johnnie's Cottage or the
Bachelor's Club.
For the family how about the Heads of Ayr Farm Park, Vikingar, Loudoun
Castle Theme Park or experience a bit of industrial heritage at the Scottish
Maritime Museum.
Family leisure centres include The Magnum, Galleon Leisure
Centre and The Citadel in Ayr. Other outdoor and sporting facilities include
the Newmilns Snow Centre which is about fifteen minutes from Kilmarnock
and offers dry slope skiing and snowboarding facilities.
Wedding venues in Ayr which are nearby include Western House Hotel and
Brig o'Doon Hotel.

Brittish Open Golf Venues nearby include: Old Troon Golf Course and Turnberry
Golf Course (British Open Golf Championship 2009)
Ayrshire is world famous for its golf courses and it boasts three Open
Championship courses The Ailsa at Turnberry, Prestwick and Royal Troon
and it was recently announced that The Open Championship will indeed return
to Ayrshire at Turnberry in 2009.
In addition there are a host of quality links courses such as Kilmarnock
Barassie, Glasgow Gailes, Western Gailes, The Dundonald, Irvine Bogside,
West Kilbride, the Turnberry Kintyre and Prestwick St Nicholas.
In Ayr and Troon you'll find three of the best muncipal courses in the
country at Lochgreen and Darley and Belleisle in addition there are other
additional public golf courses run by the local councils the length of
the county.
Other inland courses also provide a challenge including the excellent
Brunston Castle near Turnberry or Loudoun Gowf Club just outside Kilmarnock.
Prestwick also has a third course, the inland layour at St Cuthbert's.
For the James Braid trail aficionados you can enjoy three layouts in Ayrshire
- Irvine Bogside, Routenburn and West Kilbride.
