Ballater HotelsThis semi-detached, three-bedroom cottage sleeps six. It has one double and two twin bedrooms, one being on the ground floor so it can be readily accessed by less able visitors.

The cottage is available for rent throughout the year and has full central heating, a log-burner and double glazing, making it very comfortable even in cold winters. It has a TV, DVD player and Hi-Fi.

It is let on a weekly basis but alternative arrangements are possible out of season. Pets may be allowed if agreed with the owners.

The cottage has a well-equipped kitchen with an electric double oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine/tumble dryer. There is an upstairs bathroom and a downstairs toilet and washbasin.

Ballater with its shops, restaurants and other facilities is just over a mile away. With castles, gardens and distilleries to visit, outdoor pursuits of all kinds and wonderful opportunities for birdwatching, the cottage offers a wide variety of options for a great family holiday.

This traditional cottage is one of four, originally built for the Birkhall Estate now owned by Prince Charles. No. 3 was renovated to an award-winning standard in 1988. The cottage looks across to the woods of the Birkhall Estate, with Glen Muick and Lochnagar beyond. It is in an excellent location for those wishing to explore the Cairngorm National Park and the Grampian Region.

Ballater, one of the main tourist centers in the Cairngorm National Park, has a good range of shops and many places to eat. Pipe bands play regularly on Ballater green and Highland Games are held each year in Ballater, Braemar and Aboyne. There are several local golf courses.

Balmoral Castle is only seven miles away, and there are many other castles and superb gardens open to the public within easy reach of the cottage. The Cairngorm National Park offers many activities and places to visit. Salmon and trout fishing can be arranged locally. Tourist information is provided at the cottage.

There is an adequate mobile phone signal at the cottage but there is no land-line. Four sun-loungers are provided for use in the large, enclosed south-facing garden offering a safe place for children to play. The garage and sheds provide plenty of space for storing or drying outdoor gear.

There is a wide range of walking nearby; from the famous Lochnagar and several other Munros, to more leisurely strolls along the Dee. The quiet roads make cycling pleasurable and there are many, good, off-road cycle rides. There are two basic mountain bikes at the cottage for use by guests and bike hire is available in Ballater.

There is a wealth of wildlife, from red squirrels and siskins in the garden itself, to the deer and bird-life including golden eagles, in the Glen Muick nature reserve. Ospreys nest close to the cottage.
