Cluny
Crichton is a 196 hectare (485 acre) mixed farm located in the north east
of Scotland at Raemoir, Banchory, 18 miles from Aberdeen.
The farm is located on the south facing slopes of the Hill of Fare and
commands outstanding views over Royal Deeside.
Cluny Crichton has been in the Alexander family since 1899 and has changed
a great deal in that time.
Cluny Cottage Accommodation
An attractive detached bungalow, three star rated by the Scottish Tourist
Board, is available for holiday lets.
The accommodation, all on the ground floor, comprises:
· 1 double and 2 twin bedrooms fully equipped and with ample wardrobe
space.
· Bathroom with shower over bath, toilet and wash hand basin
· Separate toilet with wash hand basin
· Lounge with television, video and DVD player
· Separate dining room
· Spacious kitchen with dining area, electric cooker, washing machine,
dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and wall mounted television
· The house is equipped with total control electric heating and
sits in an enclosed garden with parking for 2 cars.
· All bed linen and towels included.
Farming:
The main farming enterprises at Cluny Crichton are suckler cows, finishing
their calves and growing cereal crops.
Leisure and Environment:
The ruins of Cluny Crichton castle are located near the farm steading.
The area is popular for tourists and visitors for hill and woodland walks.
Cluny Crichton Farm Trail:
A farm trail is available from Cluny Crichton farm to Kennerty Farm. The
trail goes past the ruins of Cluny Crichton castle which are located near
the Cluny Crichton farm steading.
There are magnificent views to the north to the Hill of Fare, to the west
to Lochnagar and to the south and east over Royal Deeside.
The farm trail links in with other hill and woodland walks including the
area around the Raemoir House Hotel.
These walks are very popular with tourists and visitors.
We take a great pride in the range of wildfife found here and have made
changes to help birds, animals and plants thrive.
SPRING - swallows and housemartins arrive, spring flowers
opening. Wide variety of birds including buzzards and heron.
SUMMER - nesting lapwings (peesies), oystercatchers,
wildflowers in bloom.
AUTUMN - otters, stoats establish new territories
WINTER - conifers, berries on trees providing food for
wildlife
