Guest House we pride ourselves on our guests warmth and comfort.
In the winter months the Guest house is heated throughout, 24 hours a
day, so a warm welcome is always guaranteed. Callater Lodge is a quality
Guest house and is the only establishment in Braemar to be awarded 4 stars
by the Scottish Tourist Board and 4 diamonds by the Automobile Association.
The pretty village of Braemar, some 8 miles from Balmoral Castle is
the gateway to Royal Deeside, surrounded by fine hills Braemar is an ideal
base for walking, climbing, skiing, golf, cycling, fishing and other outdoor
activities.
Callater Lodge Guest House provides easy access to some of Scotland's
wildest areas and is located within the Cairngorm National Park. For the
tourist, in addition to famous beauty spots such as the Linn of Dee, there
are nearby the Whisky Trail, Castle Trail and Victorian Heritage Trail
and Nature Reserves.
Each year on the first Saturday in September the village is home to
the world famous Braemar Gathering and Highland Games. Since Queen Victoria
in 1848 these colourful and exciting games have been regularly attended
by members of the Royal Family.
Callater Lodge Guest House Accommodation
They have six bedrooms available for guests, all of which have en-suite
facilities. All rooms have showers and in addition two have baths.

There is a comfortable residents lounge with a Victorian fireplace available
for guests use throughout the day and the evening.
The residence lounge, dining room and all bedrooms are non smoking.
For Guests returning from the hills or ski slopes there is a drying room
available to hang up wet clothing and boots.
They also have a secure shed available for those guests requiring storage
(bicycles, golf clubs, skis etc).
The Guest House has a residents license so guests can enjoy a range of
wines, beers, spirits and malt whiskies throughout the day and evening
up to 10:30 pm.
There is a snack menu available from 5pm until 8pm daily. Guests can enjoy
drinks and snacks in the comfort of their own room or in any of the public
rooms. Callater Lodge provides private off road parking for all guests

River Fishing Brown Trout fishing available on Rivers Clunie, Gairn &
Shee.
Pony Trekking
Balmoral Estate Available from mid April to End July. Treks through policies
and woods. Riders over 12 years of age only. Hard Hats provided.
Mountain Sports
Glenshee Ski Center Cairnwell (2069 - 3502 feet), 9 miles south of Braemar
on A93. 26 Tows and 2 Chair-lifts. Restaurants; shop,
toilets. Ski and Snowboard hire, instruction. Extensive parking. In summer
the chair-lifts run to the top of the Cairnwell and the restaurant is
open for meals, snacks and drinks.
Braemar Mountain Sports Braemar, Offering cross-country
ski hire and tuition. Mountain bike hire.
Cairnwell Mountain Sports Glenshee by Blairgowrie. Hang Gliding, abseiling,
skiing etc. tuition and hire.
Braemar Ski School (Winter only at) Castleton Hall, Glenshee Road Ski
and Snowboard Hire and instruction. Equipment may be used at Glenshee
or The Lecht.
The countryside around Braemar provides endless opportunities for walking.
There is a vast area to explore with an amazing variety of wildlife, and
abundance of wild flowers, trees, lochs and rivers as well as breathtaking
views of mountains.

Directions from Inverness:
From Inverness bear south on the A9 signposted Aviemore. By Carrbridge
turn left onto the A938 and head into Grantown on Spey. At Grantown turn
right onto the A939 and follow this road through Tomintoul and Cock Bridge
into Ballater. Almost at Ballater turn right onto the A93 signposted Braemar.
Once in Braemar, stay on the main road. Callater Lodge Guest House is
on your left hand side just before you leave the village.
Directions from Glasgow:
From Glasgow head East on the M8 turning off at junction 13 onto
the M80, signposted Stirling and Cumbernauld. Follow the M80 until it
merges with North bound M9 just outside Stirling. M9 North turns into
the A9 outside Perth. Once in Perth follow the signs for Blairgowrie and
the A93. Follow the A93 up and past the Glenshee ski Center dropping down
to Braemar on the far side.
Callater Lodge Guest House is on your right hand side just as you enter
the village.
Directions from Edinburgh:
From Edinburgh head North on the A90 across the Forth Road Bridge.
The A90 turns into the M90 which should be followed to Perth coming off
at junction 11 onto the A93. Follow the signs for Blairgowrie. Follow
the A93 up and past the Glenshee ski Center dropping down to Braemar on
the far side.
Callater Lodge Guest House is on your right hand side just as you enter
the village.
Directions form Aberdeen:
From Aberdeen follow the signs labelled "Deeside" and
A93. Follow the A93 through Banchory, Aboyne, and Ballater until you reach
Braemar.
Once in Braemar, stay on the main road. Callater Lodge Guest House is
on your left hand side just before you leave the village.
