Brechin HotelsThe house was built around 1840 and originally consisted of this house and the house next door. It was bought and split into 3 parts in the early sixties.

We bought the main house and the flat below and have since been restoring them to something resembling their former glory. It has been a labour of love, not counting the blood, sweat and tears, and we have been assured by our guests that our efforts haven't been in vain.

We are situated at the edge of the city within easy walking distance of all amenities and the local places of interest such as Pictavia, an exhibition of Pictish sculpture, and we overlook Brechin Cathedral with its historic round tower, one of only two in Scotland.

Angus has much to offer the visitor, here in Brechin we are within easy driving distance of the glens and the coast and are surrounded by golf courses. We are roughly halfway between Aberdeen and Dundee and both of these cities are well worth a visit for their unique charms.

Attractions and Activities
Brechin Cathedral and Round Tower
This beautiful, ancient building gives Brechin the proud right to city status and has been at the centre of the city's community for hundreds of years.

The building of the cathedral was the catalyst to the growth of a small town immediately to the north which flourished, hosting weekly markets. The impressive Pictish Round tower adjoining the cathedral is about 1000 years old and is one of only two left in Scotland.

Glamis Castle
A wonderful day out is to be had at Glamis Castle, 15 miles or so from Brechin and well worth the trip. This castle was the childhood home of HM the Queen Mother and also the legendary setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth.

The guided tours are excellent during the summer months up to the end of October, but watch out for the ghosts - this is arguably the most haunted castle in Scotland!

Pictavia
Walking distance from Liscara, is the Pictavia visitor centre. Here you can discover the story of Scotland's ancient Pictish tribes, warrior people who left many mysterious stone carvings throughout Angus during the early centuries of the first millenium AD.

Edzell Village
6 miles from Brechin, Edzell is a beautiful village, well worth a day out. As well as wonderful walking opportunities along the banks of the river North Esk , there is the renowned Edzell Golf Course for the golf enthusiast, and Edzell Castle, an atmospheric medieval ruin.

Brechin and Angus has much more to offer, including the Caledonian Railway, top notch golf courses, and great walking opportunities in the Angus glens.

DIRECTIONS Getting There by Car:

A90 from Dundee, northbound, first exit into Brechin for 1 mile, past the castle, Castle Street on right.
