Our central location on the Isle of Skye is ideal as a holiday destination
in Scotland.
You can relax in the cosy cottage, enjoy gentle walks, potter on the sea
shore, take boat trips or visit the galleries, craft shops and museums.
Some think a holiday in the Highlands & Islands of Scotland is not
complete without a visit to a castle or a distillery.
Few places can compare with the beauty of the Isle of Skye. The sheer
diversity of the landscape will captivate you. Photographers are spoilt,
they have the choice of wild shoreline, with sandy beaches and craggy
headlands to the remote corries of the Cullin mountains. Wild life enthusiasts
will be rewarded with viewings of a diversity of bird life, seals, dolphins
and otters.
Some of our more adventurous visitors come to Skye to make the most of
the Great Outdoors.
You could fish for fresh mackerel from Armadale Pier, paddle your sea
kayak around the islands, discover the secrets of Spar cave, splash your
way through a river gorge below Blaven, walk and scramble the surrounding
hills (summer and winter), dive for scallops, cycle to Glenelg via the
turntable ferry at Kylerhea or rock climb in the Cullin.
Guiding If available Howard is offering a guiding service: High level
walks, Scambling, and Easy to Moderate climbs. He has over thirty years
( started at school) climbing experience in Scotland and all over the
world.
Howard is a member of Kintail Mountain Rescue Team and SMC.
There are many more opportunities close by:-
· Walking using the plentiful guidebooks or guides
· Munro bagging. There are over 60 Munros on Skye, in Torridon
and Glen Sheil all within an hours drive of Tigh Holm Cottages
· Scramble or climb in the Cuillin
· Kayak/canoe
Tigh Holm Holiday cottages have the advantage that they
are within walking distance of local shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants.
Further away there is a variety of restaurants which come highly recommended.
These offer excellent local seafood and products.
Tigh Holm Directions:
If you are coming over the Skye bridge follow the main A87 road as far
as the village of Breakish. Continue through Breakish until you reach
the junction with the A851 – clearly signposted for Armadale and
the Armadale ferry. Turn left here and Tigh Holm is the first house on
the right just off the junction. There is a sign on the wall at the end
of our Drive.
If you are ‘coming over the sea to Skye’ using the ferry from
Mallaig follow the main A851 North until you reach the junction with the
A87. Tigh Holm is on the left. Just before the junction.
And by the way, if you're coming up the West coast, some Sat Navs will
send you to the Mallaig ferry - even if it's not running or you have not
booked!
