Brodick Hotels Our 200 year old home, once a barn on a working farm, has been tastefully restored to offer you comfortable modern accommodation for your holiday on the beautiful Isle of Arran.

Our home is situated in a peaceful glen, offering hill and sea views, with an abundance of bird and wildlife, We are only a leisurely ten minute walk from a choice of restaurant and leisure facilities, and a five minute drive from ferry terminal.

The Barn, Glencloy Accommodation

We offer you two comfortable rooms, both refurbished for 2010 where you can just relax and enjoy your time on the Isle of Arran.

The cottage has 2 Bedrooms with en suite shower room. Both rooms can accomodate an extra child in a single bed. The rooms of course have guest controlled heating, refreshment tray, hairdryer, colour LCD flat screen TV with freeview and WIFI internet computer access.

Woodland view bedroom with ensuite: from the side window you can see the Firth of Clyde and the mainland,with a variety of ships, boats and even submarines passing in the distance.

From the rear window you share the woodland with many types of birds, red squirrels and occassionally red deer. This bedroom can accommodate two adults or a couple with one child. Please call for details.

Glen view bedroom: comfy double bed with memory foam topper and en suite shower room.
Glen view has a wonderful view of Glencloy and across the Firth of Clyde to the mainland.In the spring time you can watch the hares boxing in the fields and occasionally red deer grazing. Pheasants, buzzards and owls inhabit the glen.

The large lounge is great for spending evenings. There is a TV/DVD with Freeview and Wifi Internet access which are all also available in your rooms.

After a reviving nights sleep in a comfortable bed, we offer you a tasty breakfast, featuring Arran produce wherever possible; the best ever!

A laundry service is available if needed and packed lunch with home baking and drinks if you are heading off into the hills.

Plenty of space for bikes, motorbikes, fishing nets, muddy boots etc. We offer a warm, friendly welcome to our island home.

Climb; Goatfell or any other hills in Glen Rosa.
Goatfell draws thousands of hill walkers to the island every year.The Arran rambler is indeed spoilt for choice. Away from the lure of the hills,the Coastal Walk is 100km long and, in the main, uses existing paths following the shore. It is ideally suited for walkers of all abilities and can be spread over 7 days.

Play and paddle on gorgeous beaches and watch seals, deer, eagles, dolphins.

Brodick Centre.
There's lots for the family on the Isle of Arran.
Why not try tennis, bowling, putting, pony trekking, cycling, mini-golf, the adventure playground at Brodick Castle, Balmichael Visitor Centre or a relaxing day on one of Arrans's beaches.

Horseriding and treking are available from two centres around the island with facilities ranging from short rides for children to rides into the hills.

Through the year are many interesting and special events to attend including: family concerts & ceilidhs, open acoustic sessions and regular live pub gigs, fell races,highland games and much much more..

If you're looking for a challenge why not try out Paragliding or quadbiking? Tuition and equipment are available on the island. alternatively go fishing, play Golf, or even go diving. But most importantly . . . . RELAX!!!

Auchrannie Spa Resort is just an 8 minute walk away from The Barn B&B and has three Restaurants.
It is situated at the foot of Glencloy.

The Auchrannie Spa Resort includes a fitness suite & studio, sauna, steam room and solaria, aromatherapy, beauty salons, shop, games hall which can be set up for tennis, badminton, and many other games, 20x8.5 meter Indoor Swimming Pool, Childrens Pool with water features, Juice Bar.

Also to the rear of the resort visit Arran Adventure for various outdoor pursuits. All these available to non residents as are the restaurants and bars.

Glencloy from the end of our drive way
A short but beautiful walk from The Barn alongside the Cloy burn - carpeted in flowers in the spring, and returning on a farm track. There are fine views to the amphitheatre of hills at the head of Glen Cloy.

Or why not do some mountain biking in Glencloy, climb North West from Cnoc Na Dial forestry car park along the forest road,this then descends into the head of Glencloy to a picnic bench at a ford. 2 miles. A short stretch of singletrack continues to the forest boundary.

The Island
The Isle of Arran is just a 55 minute sail from the Scottish mainland , and the feeling of ‘getting away from it all’ starts as soon as you board the boat.The Island is often referred to as ‘Scotland in miniature’ offering diverse and dramatic scenery, from the high peaks of the North to the gentle pastureland of the South.

There are beautiful beaches , ancient standing stones and castles , and a wide variety of wild life ,including eagles , deer, seals , red squirrels, and dolphins.

Glen Rosa , the next Glen to Glen Cloy , is a very tranquil spot popular for walking. Spend a day exploring , stroll alongside Rosa Burn , there are many lovely picnic spots , and pools in which you can dip your toes to cool off.

Brodick Bay & Ferry terminal
Ride around Arran by bus. The bus terminal is next to the Brodick ferry terminal. So just take an open top bus for an island tour or take one of the many service buses for a trip out.

DIRECTIONS
Getting there from the Information Centre:
Follow the main road North for approx one mile along the shore. Turn left up Glencloy Road (at sign for Auchrannie Spa ).Continue along this road , which becomes a track , approx ½ mile.

Turn right after disused farm building. The Barn is the right hand white painted house to the rear of Glencloy Farm.

Getting There by Car:
After leaving the ferry turn right (North) along the main road , along the shore . After the Golf Club turn left into Glencloy Road – at sign for Auchrannie Spa. Follow this road which becomes a track .

Getting There by Railway:
A train from Glasgow Central meets the boat at Ardrossan Harbour. There are no rail facilities on the island.

Getting there by Aeroplane:
Prestwick and Glasgow Airport are both reasonably close to Ardossan Harbour , approx 30 mins by taxi or car hire.

Getting There by Ferry:
Caledonian Macbrayne ferries run from Ardrossan – Brodickthroughout the year, and Claonaig – Lochranza seasonally. Cars must be prebooked.
