Attractions and Activities
In days gone by, Callander was of strategic importance, controlling two routes from the Lowlands to the Highlands. Today this position provides great advantage to the visitor allowing access to much of Argyll and Perthshire using the village as a central base.

Oban, Fort William, Glencoe, Pitlochry, Perth, Stirling, St Andrews, Edinburgh and Glasgow are all within day visiting distance, allowing return to Callander in time for evening meal.

Nearby we have the Lochs and Hills of the Trossachs, an area of outstanding natural beauty which, notwithstanding it's attractions and accessibility, still offers peace and tranquility.

Callander is a delightful, unspoiled village standing on the banks of the River Teith, just below the point where the River Leny, flowing from Loch Lubnaig, joins the water from Loch Venacher. It is a marvellous setting with Callander Crags rising behind the village and the mighty Ben Ledi ('Hill of God') standing majestically above the Pass of Leny to the West.

The area surrounding Callander provides a great variety of outdoor activities such as:
· sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, water-skiing, pony trekking and hill walking.

In addition, there are thirty waters for salmon and trout fishing detailed in the local guide, and twenty golf courses, including Gleneagles, within a distance of twenty five miles.

Alternatively there are gentle local walks, Castles, Grand Houses, Country Parks, Museums and Distilleries to enjoy. Pay us a visit and you will see some of the finest scenery in Scotland.

Lubnaig House History
The house was built in 1864 for a Glasgow merchant at a cost of £400 as a summer home. It became a hotel over 30 years ago. Over the years it has been modernized to provide every comfort yet preserving the atmosphere of the original building.

We have been lucky enough to own this lovely house for over 15 years.
