Chapelerne Farmhouse is an excellent choice of location from which to tour the rich and varied scenery of Galloway. The area offers coastlines and rolling hills that the rest of the country has yet to discover. This delightful farmhouse is only three miles from the thriving market town of Castle Douglas,"The Food Town", which supports many butchers, bakers and other food producers. Castle Douglas has a good selection of independent dress and clothing shops.Ten miles away is Kirkcudbright, "The Artist Town", named because of the many well known Scottish Artists who lived and worked within its boundaries. Chapelerne Farmhouse AccommodationA substantial traditional detached farmhouse standing in an elevated position commanding wonderful southerly views across the surrounding farmland towards the Lake District. The house has been renovated to a very high standard throughout and provides superb accommodation. This house is particularly suitable for a party, which has a member, which is disabled. There is a level access in to the front of the house and the ground floor bedroom has its own ensuite shower room specially fitted out for disabled use. Accommodation for 8/10 on two floors. Ground Floor: Type of Board First Floor: Additional Facilities Pet Policy Smoking Policy Attractions and Activities Within easy reach of Chapelerne there is numerous safe beaches, secluded bays and inlets, lochs, rivers and spectacular cliff top walks. Castle Douglas Lochside Theatre is a two hundred seat auditorium which has a regular programme of music, drama, and cinema. This theatre has been converted from the former St. Andrew's Church in 1996 and is home to three local drama/musical groups. At Carlingwark loch there is available putting, squash and boating. Fishing Walking Cycling Castles, Gardens and Museums History of Chapelerne Farmhouse The Brown family have been farming in Galloway since 1945, originating from Ochiltree in Ayrshire. Initially the home farm ,Trowdale was a dairy farm but now the main farming enterprises are 150 suckler cows which calve during two periods of the year, April and August. The other enterprise is the sheep flock which lambs around the end of March. To provide some feeding for the animals we have a small acreage of spring barley.
