to Barlochan!
Barlochan is placed on a wooded hillside in a wonderful rural location
with magnificent views over the Urr Estuary on the Solway Coast.
The tranquility of Barlochan makes it the ideal environment for a peaceful,
relaxing caravan or camping holiday. Great attention is given to the beautiful
appearance of the Park with mature trees and an abundance of flowers and
shrubs.
The local towns of Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and Dumfries are all close
by and the small village of Palnackie is a short walk from the Park itself,
making Barlochan an ideal base for exploring.
Barlochan Accommodation
Our range of comfortable holiday caravans are maintained to a high standard
of cleanliness. They are well appointed with glorious views from the terraces
of this scenic wildlife haven.
Our range of hire accommodation includes a selection of Thistle awarded
deluxe caravans, Thistle awarded standard
caravans, and budget caravans. With
a choice of 3 or 2 bedroom, we can on average cater for 2 to 6 people.
Holiday Caravans come equipped to a high standard, and are expertly cleaned
by our staff. Please remember to bring your own sheets, pillowcases, towels,
tea-towels etc.
Touring and Tents
The lower part of the park offers plenty of shelter - with picnic benches
interspaced with the pitches. Electric hook-ups are either 12 or 16amp.

Toilets and Laundry Facilities
Our toilet block has separate gents and ladies sides, providing showers
in each, plus a disabled room. The laundry has one washing machine and
one tumble drier plus a spin drier and iron/ironing board. Hairdryers
are available in each side of the toilet block.
Although the Park is small it has a choice of activities, there is the
spacious games room with arcade machines, pool table, air hockey table
plus a machine to test your motorbike skills. In the comfy TV lounge there
is a Drinks Machine, Information Brochures and a library of books for
you to browse.
Outside there is a pitch and putt and just next to this is the play
area, with swing's, see-saw's and slide, which are great fun for the children.
A few minutes away is Barwhinnie Loch where you can spend the day fishing
at no extra cost.
The Licenced shop stocks a few essentials along with sweets, ice-creams
and gifts to take home. There is a Laundry, Toilet Block, Wash-up area
for pots and pans and drying lines under cover and outside. With all this,
Barlochan is an ideal place for touring, camping or staying in our Self
Catering Holiday Caravans.
Activities and Attractions
Barlochan has a delightful hillside setting which faces the Urr Estury
and is surrounded by magical hills and forests which makes it one of the
most peaceful and tranquil spots imaginable. With its beautifully landscaped
terraces, mature trees, flowers, shrubs and Rhododendron's, it truly is
a place to relax and unwind.
Activities
Visitors to Dumfries and Galloway are entering an unspoilt corner of Scotland.
We are fortunate to have an abundance of great things to do in the region
has not been spoilt by mass tourism.
This is the perfect destination to enjoy the great outdoors, with opportunities
for fishing, horse riding, sailing, water-sports, cycling, walking and
much more throughout our countryside.
Family’s day out
Families are excellently catered for, with park farms, ice rinks,
swimming pools, a wildlife park, adventure playgrounds, historic attractions,
festivals and even two major ice cream factories! (Quality testing of
the produce is compulsory, of course).
Beaches, open countryside and forestry walks are plentiful in our region,
and offer some great places for children of all ages to let off steam.

stands at each park’s reception area.
Places to visit
For those not wanting to spend all their time enjoying the Parks activities,
there are lots of days out in beautiful Dumfries and Galloway. Castles,
Museums, Gardens, Art Galleries, Potteries, Farms where the children can
enjoy ice cream, animals and play parks, in fact there is so much to do
you may need to come back and visit again.
DIRECTIONS
Getting there from the Information Centre:
From Castle Douglas Tourist Information Centre take the Dalbeattie Road
off the roundabout. When you reach the traffic lights at the bridge, bear
right towards Auchencairn. Park is approx 2 miles on the right.
Getting There by Railway:
From Dumfries railway station take the A75 Euroroute to Castle Douglas.
At the roundabout in Castle Douglas take the Dalbeattie Road until you
reach the traffic lights on the bridge. Bear right here towards Auchencairn.
Park is on right - approx 2 miles.
Getting there by Aeroplane:
From Prestwick Airport take the A77 to Ayr then on to the A713 through
Dalmellington, New Galloway and Parton until you reach Castle Douglas.
At the roundabout in Castle Douglas take the Dalbeattie Road until you
reach the traffic lights on the bridge. Bear right towards Auchencairn.
Park is on right - approx 2 miles.

From Stranraer/Cairnryan take the A75 Euroroute to Castle Douglas. At
the roundabout in Castle Douglas take the Dalbeattie Road until you reach
