to Kinloch Campsite.
Kinloch Campsite is a small family run, informal site situated in North
West Skye at the head of Loch Dunvegan.
We are open from 1st April to 31st October. Pre booking is advisable
if electric hook-up is required however we do not have electricity for
tents.
Kinloch Campsite Accommodation
The toilet block provides hot showers.
There is hot water to all basins and showers as well as shaver points
and coin operated hairdryers.
The laundry room has a sink with hot water and coin operated washing
machine. There is also a tumble dryer, spin dryer and ironing facilities.
Dish washing is available in a separate room with 6 sinks, all with hot
water.
Free battery charging and freezer pack exchange is provided at the reception.
Barbeques are allowed but only on the stands provided.
Well behaved pets are welcome. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
On site amenities include hard standings with 230 volt, 16 amp electricity
supply and chemical toilet dump point for continental vans.
If you have an awning we advise you to bring steel pegs.
The village of Dunvegan is a 5 minute walk from the campsite and has a
full range of services including a bakery, grocers, greengrocer, newsagent,
restaurants, bars, post office, garages, medical centre and churches.
We also offer a Wi-Fi Internet connection so you can stay in touch with
the rest of the world, if you want to!
Pitches must be vacated by 12 noon on day of departure.
Pitch will only be kept until 6 p.m unless prior arrangement has been
made.
Latest arrival time 9pm.
Location of Kinloch campsite:
Dunvegan is on the North west side of the Isle of Skye (OS Landranger
23 or Explorer 410, grid ref: NG525 472) and is on the A863 which leaves
the A87 (Kyleakin to Portree road) at Sligachan.
From the Skye Bridge (from Kyle of Lochalsh), follow the A87 through Broadford
to Sligachan. Turn left onto the A863 to Dunvegan.
From Armadale (ferry from Mallaig) follow the A851 to Broadford the A87
to Sligachan. Turn left onto the A863 to Dunvegan.
From Uig (ferry from the Outer Hebrides) follow the A87 towards Portree.
Turn right at Borve onto the A850 to Dunvegan
Nearby Places of Interest:
Dunvegan village. 5 minute walk away with a range of shops and services.
Dunvegan Castle. 20 minute walk from the site home to the Clan Macleod
for 800 years here you can enjoy seeing around the castle and gardens
or take a trip to see the seals browse the gifts shops or get something
to eat at the Macleod Tables Restaurant.
The Coral Beaches. 6 miles from the site are fabulously beautiful.
McLeod's Tables. approx 2 hours to summit (469m) from the campsite, there
is no designated path.
Bharcasaig Beach. 6 miles from the site and from here you can start a
spectacular coastal walk to the MacLeods Maidens. Please allow 5-6 hours
for this walk.
The Three Chimneys. 4 miles from the site on the Glendale road is one
of 50 best restaurants in the world, the Three Chimneys.
MacLeod's Maidens. Spectacular coastal walk.
Ramasaig. 11 miles from the site on Glendale road the start of coastal
walk to Lorigill the remains of a village deserted at the time of the
clearances.
Neist Point. 11 miles from the site on Glendale road superb coastal scenery,
views to outer isles, see whales, basking sharks and lots of bird life
is also a good place for rock fishing.
Loch Bracadale. Magnificent views to Cuillin Hills.
