Welcome
to Number 10. No expense has been spared on the furnishings and fittings to ensure ones stay is as enjoyable as possible. Best summed up by a quote from Diana, interior designer and artist “We wanted to create something that was as dramatic as the scenery that surrounds” They surely have done that, and with an independent wine shipper and professional percussionist on hand, ones stay is definitely guaranteed to be a memorable one! After successfully designing the interior of the nearby Three Chimneys Restaurant, Diana has used her expertise to create a unique and luxurious space for two. Number 10 AccommodationThe living area features a wood burning stove with a large sofa, perfect
to recline on and enjoy the stunning views through the full length windows.
The kitchen is fully equipped and will satisfy the most enthusiastic
of cooks. A dishwasher and washer dryer are also included. The king-size bed has a custom made, subtly perfumed bedhead fashioned from whisky barrels, and is dressed with sumptuous silks and velvets. The adjoining bathroom has a separate bath and shower, both big enough for two to enjoy! The whole apartment has underfloor heating and deep-piled rugs. Coal
and firewood are also supplied. Even the drive on a single-track road across miles and miles of moorland, punctuated by whitewashed crofts with stunning views over the sandy bays and rocky cliffs leading to the sloping drive that curves down the field to Number Ten is unforgettable. For Diana, an artist whose seascapes and landscapes are inspired by the ever-changing beauty of this coastline creating a garden on this wild coast was the ultimate challenge. Born and raised in Middlesex she was steeped in gardening from an early age. "My earliest memory is of hunting for my parents in the herbaceous border," later moving to Skye where she eventually bought, Number Ten a croft, which now boasts the addition of two wings, one housing a studio and bedroom the other containing the gallery that showcases her work. Initially the croft sat in the middle of a field, with sheep grazing
right up to the house and a small patch of docken at the front door. "I felt the main challenge was to have sympathetic boundaries as the site was a rectangle, isolated in the middle of a field. I wanted to absorb the house in eventually build up a natural looking copse sheltering a garden." Email Number 10 enquiries & reservations: bookscotland@madbookings.com |
