is an exclusive fine dining restaurant with rooms located in the heart
of Edinburgh with a 5 Star Guest House AA grading.
Situated in a Grade A Listed Georgian Townhouse, the building has recently undergone a multi million pound transformation.
The four beautifully appointed large bedrooms, with dedicated lounge areas, are split over the two upper levels of the house, offering commanding views over the gardens and the historic Calton Hill to the rear and stunning views of the city of Edinburgh to the front.
On a clear day, bedrooms 1 and 21 also offer views to the Firth of Forth
and beyond. Each bedroom's decor is different in theme and style and facilities
include ensuite bathrooms with
either a free-standing bath and walk-in shower or a specially designed
wet room.
Guests also have their own flat screen plasma television with satellite, and extensive storage spaces.

Restaurant 21212:
Michelin-starred chef Paul Kitching’s new restaurant 21212, in Edinburgh,
opened on Wednesday 20th May 2009.
The restaurant received rave reviews and numerous awards including winning
the Best New Restaurant in the UK 2009 at the National Restaurant Awards.
In January 2010, only eight months after opening, 21212 received a Michelin
Star.
For Paul it’s the culmination of his dream to set up 21212 and run it in his own inimitable style. Facilities include, a 38 seater restaurant with open kitchen, drawing room, private dining and four luxury bedrooms. The listed Georgian townhouse over four floors is light, spacious and airy.
Paul, his partner Katie and their business partners have invested £4.5m into the project and have been heavily involved in restoring the elegant townhouse to its former glory since inception and although they have retained many period features they primarily wanted to transform the restaurant into a 21st century environmentally friendly restaurant.
A glance at the menu carefully constructed and considered by Paul shows that he is staying true to his modern French style of cookery, which he championed at his former restaurant Juniper, but with a more grown up approach to his menu combinations.
As well as some special treats for diners, the five course gourmet menu
consists of a choice of two dishes on the starter, main course and dessert
courses, hence the restaurant’s name. The lunch menu priced from
£25 per person offers diners the flexibility to choose from a 3,
4 or 5 course menu.
The restaurant is open Tuesday - Saturday.
Drawing Room:
The Drawing Room, on the first floor, offers guests sumptuous surroundings
and resplendent views from the large Georgian windows across Royal Terrace
and its gardens to The Firth of Forth and beyond. The room has been lovingly
restored retaining many of the original fixtures and fittings, as well
as a few new contemporary touches.
Whether you are enjoying pre dinner drinks before dining in the restaurant, or staying as a guest in one of the four bedrooms, this light and airy space offers an inviting setting to unwind.
This elegant room has been designed using a multitude of textures and complementary tones, a perfect blend of past and present.
Private Dining at ATE:
The surroundings within the private dining room have been designed with
a distinctly different feel to the main restaurant - the room is able
to accommodate up to ten people for a unique dining experience while enjoying
the tranquility of the garden views.
The design of the room utilises the existing fireplace, cornicing and
Georgian door frames and skirting, yet also mixes contemporary light fittings
including a stunning butterfly light pendent. The furniture is Italian
made and the room is finished by a carpet designed by Timorous Beastie.
This room can also be booked for private or corporate meetings and family
celebrations.
Pod:
For smaller parties sourcing an alternative dining experience, we can
offer up to six people our unique Pod facility which adjourns our drawing
room.
Overlooked by a wall length image of Caravaggio's The Seven Works of Mercy, the circular cream leather banquette and pink marble table make the Pod an experience not to be missed.
