Attractions: Some more information on the more popular attractions is given below. The castle is the most popular tourist attraction in Edinburgh. Dominating the skyline with majestic views over Princes Street and the impressive gardens below, this former Royal residence is steeped in history. The spectacular fireworks display against the backdrop of the castle
at the end of the Edinburgh Festival and on Hogmanay are the most eagerly
awaited events of the year. With its impressive range of smaller shops and department stores, Princes Street is almost guaranteed to leave you with tired feet and an empty wallet! There is so much more to shopping in Edinburgh though, and we highly recommend you also take a walk up the Royal Mile and the Grassmarket area where there are many quaint and specialist shops waiting to be explored. The Edinburgh Military Tattoo draws viewers from all over the world. Many come to see and hear the Scottish Regiments with their haunting Pipe Bands but there is also a vast array of other military regiments on show from around the world. This event is a truly spectacular fanfare of military showmanship both past and present.
