The Kenvie Guest House, established in 1970 and awarded three stars by the Scottish Tourist Board, is a charming traditional Victorian guest house situated in a quiet residential area close to the centre of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Our Rooms:
We have a selection of family, double, or twin rooms to choose from, all either standard (bathroom in the hallway) or with an en-suite bathroom (private, in the room). To find out more, or to book a room, please contact us by phone or e-mail.
Free wireless broadband internet access (wifi) is available in all rooms.

We have an extensive breakfast menu with a good choice for vegetarians, including fruit juices and cereals and traditional Scottish porridge.
We also offer brown and white bread toast, Scottish oatcakes with a selection of jams and preserves, tea, filter coffee or hot chocolate, and a full Scottish grill of bacon, sausage, tomato and mushroom, with your egg cooked to order (fried, scrambled, poached or boiled).

Also on the sideboard, assorted mustards and sauces, Scottish heather honey, lemon slices. Whisky marmalade is a favourite with regular guests.
Breakfast is served between 7.30am and 9am.

This charming traditional Victorian townhouse is furnished to a high standard, with some antique and period pieces.

For your further comfort the house is non-smoking. Car parking is trouble-free and plentiful with unrestricted street parking. There are no charges for parking.

Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United Kingdom. Many of its attractions are famous throughout the UK and indeed the world, including Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyrood, the Royal Mile, the Old Town and New Town, and the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe.
UK and overseas visitors come summer and winter to use Edinburgh's guesthouse accommodation as a base for these and other attractions, such as the many golf courses of Edinburgh and Scotland, the nearby Rosslyn Chapel (made famous by Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code) and Edinburgh's many museums, historic locations, pubs, bars, restaurants and other leisure facilities.

Easy Access to Leith and Royal Yacht Britannia to the north and Rosslyn Chapel to the south.
Kenvie Guest House, situated in a quiet residential area, about 1 mile (1.5km) from the City centre and the Old Town, and takes about 10 minutes by bus (excellent service) and about 20 minutes to walk. The bus stop is just a short block away. The commercial area starts about 3 blocks from here. The City, dominated by 'The Royal Mile', the historic High Street running from Edinburgh Castle at the top to Holyrood Palace and the new Scottish Parliament at the bottom.

Also on this lovely street are the Camera Obscura, St Giles Cathedral, John Knox House, Museum of Childhood, Edinburgh Museum and The People's Story. Lady Stair's House - the writers museum (a museum dedicated to Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns and R.L. Stevenson) and much more.

The famous Princes Street has on one side shops, restaurants and cafes; on the other, beautiful gardens containing the Floral Clock and Sir Walter Scott's Monument (209ft. high, with 287 steps, which can be climbed to give panoramic views over the city to the Forth Bridges and Fife in the North, and over the scenic Border country to the South).
Craigmillar Castle and the Royal Infirmary are also nearby. Leith and the Royal Yacht Britannia are a short distance away.

Directions to Kenvie Guest House:
How to find us by car:
All directions to Edinburgh will cross the City Bypass (A720) on the edge of the city. When you see the signs for this road, follow them in the direction for Edinburgh South. You should then exit the Bypass at the Sheriffhall Roundabout, following the signs for the City Centre (A7 North) - also signposted Royal Infirmary and Old Town. After aprox. 6km (4 miles) you will find another roundabout, next to Cameron Toll shopping centre (a dark glass modern building with a red neon strip around it at night).
Follow the roundabout under a railway bridge and take the next left onto Dalkieth Road, this is still the Old Town and A7. After 1/2 km (500 yards) you will pass a row of shops on your left.
Opposite the last shop (a hairdresser), you should turn right into Kilmaurs Terrace, and you will find Kilmaurs Road at the top.
Turn left and the Kenvie is on the left. Alternatively, if you miss Kilmaurs Terrace, continue a short distance to the traffic lights, turn right into Priestfield Road, and right again for Kilmaurs Road.

Arriving in the city centre by bus or train:
Follow the signs for Princes Street, 2 minutes walk from either St Andrew's bus or Waverley train stations. Outside British Home Stores there are 3 bus stops: take the 30 or 33 Lothian Bus (red buses) or 86 First Bus (green bus). Numbers can be found on the bus stop itself.
The journey time is about 10 - 20 minutes. Ask the driver to let you off 2 stops after the Commonwealth Swimming Pool.
Walk the way the bus is going to the corner, turn left into Kilmaurs Terrace and at the top of the street, turn left into Kilmaurs Road. Kenvie is on the left. Alternatively, taxis are plentiful from either bus or train stations. Other bus numbers are 2 and 12 from Edinburgh Conference Centre, 14 from Leith (Royal Yacht Brittania) The City centre is about 10mins. by bus, and about a 20 - 25 min. walk. The bus stop is a short block away.

Arriving by air:
There are buses between the airport and Waverley train station in the city centre every 15 minutes (#100). Takes 30 - 40 minutes depending on traffic.
Once at the train station, use the city buses as described above or take a taxi. From Waverley train station or St Andrews Square bus station it is about £6 - 7.
If hiring a car use the city bypass A720 south and follow directions on how to find us by car above. Journey time is about 30 - 40 minutes.
