McCrae's
Bed and Breakfast is a family-run guest house, conveniently located in
Edinburgh's historic New Town close to the City Centre, that strives to
make a minimal impact on our environment.
We offer our guests affordable, high-quality accommodation that quite literally doesn't cost the earth and will help reduce your carbon-footprint while enjoying our wonderful city.
We are a traditional Edinburgh main door apartment in a block that is over 130 years old and many period features, such as ornate cornicing, have been retained; the decor is a tasteful mix of old and new.

Rooms
One family/triple room with en-suite bath/shower room
Two double/twin rooms with en-suite shower rooms
All rooms are centrally heated and equipped with digital TV, Tea/Coffee
making facilities and hair-dryer.
Disabled Access
All bedrooms and our breakfast room are at ground level. All doors are
wide enough for wheelchair access and our en-suites are relatively large,
allowing easy access for those with restricted mobility. We can also equip
our bathrooms with grab rails and shower seats if required.
Computer facilities
We provide free wireless internet access. We also make a basic computer
and printer available to guests for limited use; for checking email, travel
bookings, etc.
Families & Children
We are child-friendly and welcome children with open arms. We have a large
family room with an ensuite bath. A cot, high-chair, baby-bath and toys
for young children are available free of charge. We are happy to provide
facilities for storing and heating baby-food. We can also provide baby-sitting
services (additional charge).
Smoking
The B&B is strictly non-smoking.
Other
- An organic packed lunch can be provided (extra cost) including a flask
of tea or coffee, by prior arrangement.
- An ironing board and iron are available on request.
- We have two Brompton folding bicycles available to rent; an environmentally-friendly
way of seeing more of Edinburgh than you can on foot.
- We provide secure storage for bicycles.
You can experience everything Edinburgh has to offer and then relax in one of our 3 en-suite rooms, with our organic breakfasts setting you up for the day.
We source everything as locally as possible so you'll be getting a taste
of the best Scotland has to offer.
We've been supporting the Organic movement as a family for many years
and want to give guests the opportunity to do so too, while keeping our
rates as affordable as other establishments offering standard fare.
The quality of the produce we use is second to none and we're sure you'll
appreciate the difference. We also provide only eco-friendly toiletries
and only use eco-friendly products on our organic cotton bed-linen and
towels.
When you come to stay with us you'll enjoy the personal touch a family-run
establishment has to offer. Our priority is to help make your stay in
Scotland's Capital as enjoyable as possible.
It's a fantastic city to visit, all year round; great for just a city-break or as a starting point for a wider tour of Scotland.
Getting here:
From the Airport
The Airlink bus runs regularly from the airport to Waverly Bridge (Edinburgh
City Centre) for £5 return.Full details of this service can be found
at www.flybybus.com . From Waverly Bridge we are a 20 minute walk (mostly
downhill) or, if you're not feeling energetic, the No. 8 Bus goes regularly
from Princes Street to Bellevue, from where it's only a 2 minute walk
down East Claremont St.
Alternatively, a taxi from the airport direct to us will cost about £17.
From Waverly Rail Station
The B&B is an approximate 20 minute walk from Waverly Station if you
are feeling energetic. Alternatively take one of the regular No. 8 buses
from nearby Princes Street to Bellevue, from where it's only a 2 minute
walk down East Claremont St. Or take a taxi from one of the ranks within
or just outside the station.
Parking
Ample street parking is available but is metered from 08:30 to 17:30,
Monday to friday. We can provide vouchers at an extra cost so that you
do not have to feed the meter over this period. Parking at weekends is
free of charge from 17:30 Friday evening to 08:30 Monday morning.
