HISTORY OF MERCHISTON RESIDENCE:
Blonde sandstone quarried locally from the old Burgh Muir epitomises the
19th century architecture of Merchiston. The Victorian townhouses and
mansions of Merchiston Avenue and Merchiston Place were constructed during
the 1860s, and this private residence was built by architect George Anderson
circa 1879-1888 and is a stunning example of the architecture in this
historic city.

By Train
Edinburgh’s two train stations are Waverley and Haymarket. The largest
station, Waverley, is located off Princes Street and is a ten minute taxi
journey to Merchiston Avenue. Haymarket is west of the city centre, and
is also a ten minute taxi journey.
By Car
Drive to the A702/Biggar Road, and head north into the city. Follow the
road for around three miles into the city which will take you through
Buckstone Terrace, Comiston Road and Morningside Road. Turn left at Merchiston
Place – at this junction you should see churches on every corner,
known as Holy Corner. On Merchiston Place, take the first right onto Merchiston
Avenue.
