happy to welcome visitors to this exciting city.
We will make sure you receive a friendly welcome and that your stay in
Edinburgh is a relaxing one.

lounge and a private garden available to our guests. We are also famous
for delicious vegetarian breakfasts, served in our conservatory overlooking
the garden.

The Bedrooms:
All of our cosy bedrooms are en-suite with their own shower, wc and washbasin,
except one, which has private facilities. We have single rooms, doubles,
twins and a large family room which sleeps up to six.
There is free wi-fi in every room, as well as a phone, television with
48 digital channels and tea and coffee making facilities.
Guests using the family room are free to use the kitchen, which is right
next door, to prepare meals in the evening and also have access to the
garden, through the conservatory.
Six Marys Place Facilities
Six Mary’s Place will provide you with all the things you would
expect of a modern guest house – free wireless internet access,
telephone, television with 48 digital channels, complimentary tea and
coffee and more. But most importantly, you will receive a warm and friendly
welcome to a Georgian House that’s inviting, comfortable and full
of character.
Six Mary’s Place retains a number of the original
Georgian features while also meeting all the expectations of modern tourist
accommodation: all of our bedrooms are ensuite with shower, wc and washbasin.
It’s important that you should feel at home here, and our spacious
lounge is a great place to relax or to meet other guests.
The popular vegetarian breakfasts are served in the conservatory which
leads out to a delightful garden which you’re invited to make full
use of during your stay.
We’ve received several awards, for customer care and green tourism
amongst others, and we hope that this is reflected in our efforts to make
your stay as pleasant as possible.
We started serving our popular vegetarian breakfasts almost 20 years ago,
and since then they've become a Six Mary’s Place institution. The
latest addition is our home-made vegetarian haggis - delicious!
Breakfast is served in the light and airy conservatory, overlooking the
garden - a great place to start the day. We provide the following options
each morning and, given a little notice, will cater for any special dietary
requirements:
The Lounge:
With so much to see and do around Edinburgh, you’ll welcome the
chance to unwind in the homely lounge. You can pour yourself a coffee,
leaf through the daily newspapers, chat to other guests or just put your
feet up and relax.
We also offer free internet access on our PC so you’ll have no problems
keeping in touch or finding out what’s going on in the city.
The Garden:
Whether it’s for peace and quiet or to bask in the sunshine, you’ll
love our beautiful garden. Access is from the conservatory and you’re
more than welcome to make full use of the garden during your stay.
The Meeting Room:
Take advantage of Six Mary's Place meeting room hire - situated within
Edinburgh's New Town, only minutes away from Princes Street and the city's
business centre.
Our conservatory is the perfect venue for the smaller business meeting,
seating up to 12 delegates in a boardroom style.
The conservatory offers you quiet surroundings overlooking the private
garden, which you are welcome to make use of, to the rear of our Georgian
building. With its bright and airy feel, this room provides a refreshing
alternative to meet clients or to get away from the office environment.
The City of Edinburgh:
One of Europe’s most beautiful capitals and home to the country’s
parliament, Edinburgh is a great city for a short break or as a base to
explore the amazing scenery of Scotland. As a city of culture it boasts
an all year round events calendar to rival any other - no matter what
season you choose to visit there’s always something happening.
Stockbridge
The guest house is located in Stockbridge, a genuine village within the
city and one of the most pleasant parts of Edinburgh. Close to the tourist
attractions but away from the tourists, it has a distinct feel to it with
a wealth of antique and craft shops, not to mention bars and restaurants.
While staying at Six Mary’s Place you’ll love having the
Royal Botanical Gardens on your doorstep while the Water of Leith provides
a great place of sanctuary when you want to stretch your legs. And if
architecture is your thing, then what better location to base yourself
than the heart of Edinburgh’s celebrated New Town.
Visitors to Six Mary’s Place are provided with a comprehensive
guide full of local knowledge, recommendations and useful information.
Of course if there’s anything else you need to know, just ask.
Scotland:
The highlands of Scotland are an area of genuine beauty and we at Six
Mary's Place thoroughly recommend you take time out to explore the amazing
scenery of our country. Edinburgh makes a fantastic base and you don’t
have to travel too far to experience some of Scotland’s gems.
Rosslyn Chapel and North Berwick are just a short bus ride away and you
can explore many areas relying on public transport alone.
Loch Ness, St Andrews, Loch Lomond and the Highlands are all within reach
and there are many companies offering tours to suit all types of travellers.
Six Mary's Place and Green Tourism:
We recognise the fact that the actions of each and every one of us have
an impact on the environment. At Six Mary’s Place we are committed
to providing an excellent level of service whilst minimising the environmental
impact of our business activities. We are proud that our efforts have
been rewarded with the Green Tourism Business Scheme Silver Award and
we hope to achieve the Gold Award soon.
So far we’ve taken many steps to make the guest house more environmentally
friendly. Simple things such as using eco cleaning products, buying fair
trade produce, using energy saving light bulbs or even building a bug
hotel in the back garden!
But we’ve also challenged ourselves to reduce waste, energy usage
and water consumption and to instil a culture of environmental awareness
amongst our staff.
We’ve certainly noticed a difference and we hope you will too. We
welcome any comments or suggestions you may have on how we can improve
further.
Cyclists and Walkers:
As a cyclist or a walker you’ll be made especially welcome at Six
Mary’s Place. We know that you’ll appreciate having a secure
storage area for your bike, a drying area for your wet clothes, not to
mention a hot drink when you arrive. As members of the Cyclists Welcome
and Walkers Welcome schemes these are just some of the services we can
offer you at Six Mary’s Place.
