Balcarres Self Catering is owned and run by Mike and Jackie Warburton who can assure you of the very warmest of Highland welcomes. Whether you need advice on days out in Lochaber, or places to eat locally, they are always on hand to help make your holiday a truly memorable one.

Balcarres is set in an elevated position in a quiet cul-de-sac. Ample safe car parking means that you can confidently leave the car behind at the accommodation and walk into Fort William town centre, just a pleasant 15 minutes' stroll along the side of Loch Linnhe.

Rowan and Birch

Their two self-catering apartments, "Birch" and "Rowan" each comprise of a double-bedded room with ensuite toilet and shower, a fully fitted modern kitchenette, and a spacious lounge in which to relax. Both apartments have televisions.

The lounge to Birch has quite stunning views overlooking Loch Linnhe, as does both bedroom and lounge in Rowan. Each apartment is furnished to a high standard with a bright and modern decor.

Balcarres is a non-smoking establishment. During quieter times of the year both apartments are available for long weekend or short breaks. Should the self-catering apartments be fully booked, you may like to consider bed and breakfast, which is also available in the main house.

There are a number of interesting places to visit within Fort William itself, some of the most popular being the following:
Ben Nevis Distillery, where visitors can see around the distillery, visit the gift shop and have a coffee or a snack in the café
Treasures of the Earth Exhibition, a truly unique visitor attraction of interest to adults and youngsters alike.
West Highland Museum in the centre of Fort William, which has a fascinating display of Jacobite memorabilia
Nevis Range Gondola which serves the ski centre during the winter months, but is also a very popular attraction in summer. It takes the visitor 2150 feet (650m) up Aonach Mor from where there are stunning views over Fort William and the surrounding area. Refreshments are available in the café
Caledonian Canal and Neptune’s Staircase, a run of seven lochs linking Loch Linnhe and the freshwater lochs of the Great Glen: Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness.

Location:
By road

The roads to Fort William are a pleasure to drive on, with fantastic views all along the way. Fort William is well signposted with access via the A82 from the North and South. Approximate driving times are one and a half hours from Inverness and two and a half hours from Glasgow.
By rail
Scotrail runs a regular service from Glasgow Queen Street along the famous West Highland line. There is also a sleeper service available from London. Click here for timetable details.
By plane
The most convenient airports are Inverness (70 miles) and Glasgow (100 miles). Car hire is available at both airports.
