Welcome to Glen Nevis Youth Hostel
|
Lying in the shadow of Ben Nevis, Fort William is the capital of Lochaber and one of the major resorts of the Highlands. 'Fort Bill' lies at the heart of Lochaber and is the area's natural capital. In addition, the town commands an important position - being easily accessible from Glasgow and the central belt, and in turn providing good access to the Highland and Islands. Indeed, the town's importance - both to local people and the visitor - is underlined by the wide range of accommodation, shops, restaurants, essential services and recreational facilities. Set in an awe-inspiring glen, their youth hostel sits in the shadow of Britain's highest mountain Ben Nevis: the path to the summit begins at the youth hostel. Many low levels walks snake through the Glen; make sure you visit the spectacular Steall Falls and the wire-rope bridge. Access to many of The Mamores (Lochaber mountain range) is easy, and the glen has great crags at Polldubh for rock climbers and bouldering. This is the ideal base for those finishing, the West Highland Way or competing in a 3 Peaks Challenge. They are also close to the bustling town of Fort William and the acclaimed snowsports and World Championship mountain biking area at Aonach Mor.
