The Kelvingrove Hotel Accommodation

Embedded on the edge of the stylish yet laid-back West End, the Kelvingrove hotel offers the best of both worlds, being only walking distance from the energetic city centre while remaining a stone throw from the lush Kelvingrove public park and the chic bars of the West End further ahead.

The hotel also enjoys close proximity to a number of attractions such Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery, the Museum of Transport, the SECC and the Science Centre, while bus routes on its doorstep make travel to these amenities and other areas in the city even easier.

This family run hotel retains an endearing, homely feel to it where every guest is made to feel truly welcome by its pleasant and hard working staff. Parking:
You can park for free outside the hotel after 6pm and on weekends however out with these times, outside the hotel and in surrounding streets a ‘pay and display’ system will be in operation. Parking discount vouchers are available at reception on request.

Things to do and places to visit:
Public Transport:
The Kelvingrove hotel is around 20 minutes walk if coming from the city centre, however a taxi fare or all day bus ticket would cost between £3-4. The nearest subway/ underground station to the hotel is “Kelvin hall” which is 10 minutes walking distance – an all day “discovery ticket” on the Glasgow underground will cost around £2.50.

Glasgow Science Centre:

GSC brings science and technology to life through hundreds of interactive exhibits in the Science Mall and the unique experiences of the GSC IMAX Theatre and the Glasgow Tower.

Hunterian Museum & Art Gallery:
Gilbert Scott Building, University Avenue, Glasgow, G12 8QQ.
The Hunterian Gallery houses the University of Glasgow's art collection making it available for study and for pleasure. It has a wide range of exhibitions and receives lottery funding to provide its education programme.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum:
Argyll Street, G3 8AG.
A recent restoration project has increased its exhibitions to around 8000 objects displayed on 3 floors. There are not only displays but interactive events and a gallery
dedicated to Glasgow’s own Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

Kelvingrove Park:
Otago Street, Glasgow
You can enjoy a peaceful stroll in the West End and pop into Kelvingrove Park where there are not only beautiful walkways and views of the city but there is also a skate park and cycle routes within the grounds, and the River Kelvin is right beside this great parkland area too.

Museum of Transport:
1 Bunhouse Road, Glasgow G3 8DP.
The Museum of Transport is directly opposite the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. A wander around the museum is recommended if you want to indulge in the history of Glasgow’s transportation or if you want to get a close up of a formula one racing car.
Less than 2 minutes walk from the Kelvingrove Hotel.

Within walking distance to the Kelvingrove Hotel is a stunning building that hosts shows, exhibitions and the largest public reference library in Europe.

The Mitchell Theatre:
6 Granville Street, G3 7DR.
The Mitchell Theatre is situated behind the Mitchell Library and hosts a variety of events. The Mitchell Theatre hosts music, arts and drama events including child friendly entertainments.

The Stand Comedy Club:

Glasgow’s first purpose-built comedy club offering regular customers and first-time audiences a fantastic bill of international and Scottish comedians with excellent value tickets from as little as three pounds. Only a short walk from the Kelvingrove Hotel. 10 minutes approximately.

The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour:
100 Stobcross Road, Glasgow, G3 8QQ.
One of only five tall ships' to be built on the River Clyde and is the last one based here and the only one left in the UK. Visiting The Tall Ship is a must when in Glasgow and offers a fantastic insight into what it may have been like to work and live back then. Since it's opening in 1999 the Tall Ship has attracted 30,000 visitors.

Directions:
From Glasgow International Airport
Guests can travel via taxi, bus or car from the airport.
Our stop is not listed although it would be between Charing Cross and Partick bus station stops on the timetable

If arriving by car guests should follow the directions below:
1. Follow signs for M8 East – Signposted “city centre”
2. Follow M8 until “Kingston Bridge” (“junction 19” on the motorway)
Move into furthest left lane and follow the slip road signposted “Charing Cross”
3. Move to left lane and as you reach the traffic lights at the end of slip road turn left into “Pitt Street”
4. Once you reach the traffic lights at the top of the hill, turn left into “St. Vincent Street”
5. Follow the road until the next set of lights while remaining in the straight ahead lane and follow on until the road curves right at another set of lights (a police station will be on your left hand side).
6. After lights turn right into “Kelvingrove Street” then turn left onto Sauchiehall Street at the T- junction. You will see the hotel on your left hand side.

From the M8 motorway:
1. From M8 motorway take junction 18 – signposted “Charing Cross” and as you come off move over to the right hand side lane.
2. Go through first set of traffic lights and turn right at the second set.
Keep to the left lane and drive through the next set of traffic lights and follow road until bottom.
3. Follow road around to the right and once you arrive at the junction turn left onto “Sauchiehall Street”. The hotel is 600 yards on the right hand side of the road.
