This clever amalgamation of townhouses allows McLays to boast an 81 hotel room establishment in the heart of Glasgow. McLays offers basic budget bed and breakfast no thrills hotel accommodation. The bedrooms are simply furnished and include satellite television, direct dial telephone and a hospitality tray as standard. All hotel staff at McLays will endeavour to make your stay a pleasant one and will help answer any queries or requirements you may have. Parking vouchers for on street parking are available at hotel reception.
We are a 1 star guest house as awarded by the Scottish Tourist Board. Guests can enjoy relaxing, chatting, reading or watching television in one of the 2 spacious and comfortably furnished TV lounges. McLays has 2 dining rooms offering a choice of breakfast menu complimentary to all guests. can use. Nearby indoor shopping malls range from high street choice in St Enochs Centre and Buchanan Galleries to more exclusive designer and independent labels in Princes Square. Glasgow's architectural brilliance is epitomised in the design of its inner city buildings with original aristocratic townhouses lining the city centre and traditional tenements in the neighbouring streets. Dining Room: The set breakfast menu consists of a choice of cereals, muesli, toast
and preservatives, beans, potato scone and tomato. Please provide McLays with 48 hours notice if the following are required :- porridge, fresh fruit (apples, oranges and bananas), low fat yogurt, soya milk. Advance notice is required if leaving early and breakfast is required before 7am. A limited breakfast can be offered of cereals, toast and tea/coffee. McLays doesn't offer lunch or dinner facilities but promotes a full Scottish breakfast. Overview: To celebrate Glasgow's most famous architect, the Glasgow School of Art has guided tours, exhibitions and a gift shop. Scotland's National Centre for Architecture and Design, The Lighthouse is also based in the city centre of Glasgow and is inextricably linked to Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Much of Glasgow's fortunes were due to tobacco and cotton trading and shipbuilding during the 18th and 19th centuries with the River Clyde serving as the the main channel of trading. The Scottish Maritime Museum is situated in Braehead were Glasgow's maritime history can be explored and enjoyed. Glasgow boasts the birthplace of the QE2, an international liner. There is a water bus that runs from the centre of Glasgow to the museum. A diverse range of museums and galleries can be visited most of the year, many offering free admission. The Burrell Collection in Pollock Park explores the world through time, culture and ideas. The GoMA, Gallery of Modern Art in Royal Exchange Square offers temporary exhibitions and workshops of contemporary art. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum at Kelvingrove Park is Scotland's must-see museum which includes a real spitfire soaring above visitors. People's Palace and Winter Gardens in Glasgow Green tells the story of Glasgow from ancient to current times. Approximately 10 miles south of Glasgow is the National Museum of Rural Life celebrating the Scot's relationship with the land and farming going back 6,000 years.
