Ravenscourt House is a family run 8-bedroom hotel and restaurant. The house was stone built in the Victorian era and has been lovingly moulded into an intimate boutique hotel.

Ravenscourt House Hotel Accommodation

We offer a selection of twin, double and family rooms all of which are tastefully and individually decorated in a manner befitting the house and many of our double rooms feature king or super king sized beds. Seven rooms offer en-suite facilities and one has access to a private bathroom.

All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, satellite television, DVD players, radio alarm clocks and a hairdryer amongst other comforts. We also offer free Wi-Fi, where reception permits, throughout the hotel.

The Restaurant
Good Food and drink is a core ingredient of Ravenscourt House and our conservatory restaurant provides the ideal location for a meal. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the food unpretentious and cooked with care and respect. Our raison d'etre is to provide good locally sourced food at affordable prices.

We are committed to using only the best quality locally sourced fresh produce and this commitment is encapsulated in our membership of the Scotch Beef Club and inclusion in the Scottish Food Guide.

We have an extensive range of wines from which to choose and why not relax after dinner in one of our two lounges with a coffee or single malt of which there are over 50 from which to choose.

Kids Menu
There is nothing out of a box here. Our Childrens menu is prepared using the same quality ingredients that we use on our main menu.

We are situated just two minutes walk from the centre of Grantown-on-Spey, a charming small town with a distinct village atmosphere, located amongst the breathtaking countryside on the Northern edge of the Cairngorms National Park.

The hotel is within 40-minutes drive of Inverness Airport and with flights available from most regional airports, including Gatwick, Birmingham International, East Midlands and Leeds Bradford, why not escape to Ravenscourt House for a relaxing weekend or midweek break.

We are open all year round for accommodation and for meals and the house can be let out in its entirety for private parties subject to availability.

Things To Do
There is no shortage of things to do in and around the Grantown area. The hotel is situated on the world famous Whisky and Castle trails, there are a large number of distilleries and castles in the surrounding area including Balmoral which is less than an hours’ drive away.

Whisky
The Ravenscourt Hotel is ideally placed to explore Scotland's "water of life". Seven of Scotland's finest distilleries are all close by:

· The Glenlivet
· Tomintoul
· The Glenfiddich
· The Dalwhinnie
· Strathisla
· Cardu
· Glenfarclas

The hotel is also situated close to both the Cairngorm Mountain and Lecht Ski Centre making it an ideal base for skiers, climbers and walkers. Loch Ness is also less than an hours’ drive from the hotel.

The Cairngorm National Park in which we are located has been designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty and is renowned for its wildlife. There are a large number of golf courses in the surrounding area including a number of championship courses.

The River Spey, that runs through Grantown, is renowned for the quality of its salmon fishing and Ravenscourt House has gun cabinets, ideal for those visiting the area for its shooting.

Fishing
The Glorious River Spey has it's source high in the Monadhliath mountains, imbuing it with cold crystalline waters in which some of the finest fishing in Scotland can be had. The river Spey is over 100 miles long, with many tributaries, the Calder (widens to Loch Insh), The Trium, The Feshie, The Nethy, The Avon, and the Aberlour to name a few.

The Spey produces a good landing of Salmon from the 11th February until 30th September.

Shooting
When you decide to go Hunting in the Highlands of Scotland you will be spoilt for the Choices, from Grouse, Pheasant and Red Deer all available on our doorstep:

· Grouse – shooting for Grouse in Scotland commences every August and September.
· Pheasant – Commences November to end of January .
· Stalking – Normally September and October for Stags and November to February for Hinds.

Should you be a overseas visitor then you must obtain a permit to bring your weapon into the country and please ensure you have correct insurance as this will be essential before any estate allows you to hunt.

Bird Watching
Ospreys returned to Scotland and Speyside in the 1950s.At Loch Garten Scotland can now boast a new visitor centre were you can find out more about the ospreys along with other wildlife that frequent the Speyside region. Nearly two million people have visited Loch Garten to watch the Ospreys and their young at nest.

Then walk along the river Spey and you could be lucky enough to see the Adult Ospreys swooping to catch food for their young.

Cairngorm Reindeer
Cairngorm boasts its own Reindeer centre. Various displays tell you about the reindeer, their natural history and their habitat. A special mention is given to the most important of all reindeers and the important job they do for Santa each year.

Small paddocks at the Reindeer centre where you can visit the reindeer if you have not got time to visit the hill on a guided tour. Any reindeer that needs particular attention, such as feeding after illness, are also likely to be staying at the centre.

Walking
Speyside has numerous opportunities to explore the spectacular scenery that only Scotland can provide. The famous Cairngorm ranges rises to heights of over 4000ft and provide the chance to experience some of the best walking ,climbing and winter sports in Scotland.

Why don't you take the easier way to travel up the mountain on the new Cairngorm Funicular railway, this will allow you to experience the wonderful views without using all your energy up to do so.

During the summer months the funicular takes passengers to a height of 3000ft just below the summit, were you can enjoy a drink in the highest cafe in the UK. The Cairngorms is Scotland's Premier Ski resort with 35 downhill runs for to test all standards of Skiers and Snowboarders.

Golf
What better place to play Golf than in the highlands, wonderful courses which challenge the very best and are in excellent condition, scenery beyond your wildest dream, air you can breath which is unpolluted and very modest green fees.

Getting There by Railway:
Daytime direct services from London on the east coast mainline stop at Aviemore, just 12 miles from Grantown-on-Spey.

Getting there by Aeroplane:
To Inverness airport, approx 50 minutes by car.
