Hawick hotel Traditionally built of sandstone in 1890, Oakwood has a warm welcoming atmosphere, which we do our utmost to enhance.

Being halfway between Edinburgh and Carlisle, on the Historic Borders Route, we have an ideal North/South stopover - although with the surrounding area oozing natural unspoilt beauty, you may be tempted to stay longer!

A beautiful part of the world, steeped in history and with plenty to see and do - come and enjoy it!! You'll be made very welcome.
Oakwood is a charming Victorian house situated in grounds of approximately one acre yet is only a few minutes walk from the town centre.

Oakwood House Accommodation

Our comfortable rooms, all with colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities, are en suite or have private bathroom thus making Oakwood an ideal location for touring the beautiful border countryside.

For the safety and comfort of all our guests we request that there is no smoking on the premises.

Activities and Attractions
The Scottish Borders is an area of unspoilt natural beauty. Its quiet roads meandering through the hills are a joy to the cyclist, the walker or the lazier motorist - stop and picnic by a tumbling stream or watch the lambs frolic and play in spring time.

The lovely Wilton Lodge Park, through which the River Teviot runs, is just across the road and golf , fishing, walking and cycling can all be enjoyed close by.

We have castles, stately homes, hidden gardens, music festivals (Jazz and folk) and the Common Riding to name but a few attractions.

Golfers can test their skill on the challenging Hawick course whilst being rewarded by its panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

Walkers can take to the hills and lose themselves in the beauty all around them - buzzards wheeling overhead, curlews calling...For fisherman there is the Teviot or the Tweed - need I say more.

Hawick is the home of world famous knitwear companies, such as Pringle, Peter Scott, Lyle & Scott and the newer, but rapidly earning a name for itself, Hawick Cashmere. All offer superb quality knitwear (cashmere, silk, merino, lamb's wool etc) of a standard which has been achieved with over a hundred years of expertise.

All in all, we are lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world and are only too happy to give visitors the chance to share it, whether it be for a short break or a comfortable overnight stop en route north or south. Of one thing we are sure, you will be very welcome.
