Kinross Hotels Welcome to the Gate Lodge!

If you would like fantastic views over Loch Leven and the surrounding hills and countryside, a rural setting, a charming cottage with the comfort and conveniences of modern life, easy access to travel throughout Central Scotland, Fife and Tayside, a couple of country inns serving good food within half a mile, then come and enjoy a stay at the Lodge.

The Gate Lodge is cheery and bright in summer, yet cosy and welcoming in winter. The accommodation is all on one level, comprising 3 bedrooms, lounge, dining-kitchen and sunroom leading on to a pretty garden. Children are welcome, suitable for elderly, pets allowed. It has excellent facilities nearby to suit all ages and tastes. Indulge in your favourite outdoor pursuit, visit some of the many local attractions or relax in the sunroom with a book and a glass of wine.

The Gate Lodge Accommodation

1 Double Bedroom, 1 Twin Bedroom, 1 Single Bedroom. The master bedroom can be twin or double.
Entrance to the cottage is via the sunroom. This is a lovely, bright spacious room to relax in or let the kids play. It looks out to the garden and loch.

The kitchen has a cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, table and chairs for family meals and has views out to the loch. A high chair is available on request. The lounge also has views to the loch. It has a lovely fireplace, comfy sofas and chairs and an old piano. Logs/coal supplied in winter.

The master bedroom is off the main hallway and has a lovely big window looking out to the garden. It has a zip-and-link bed so can be twin or double. The single bedroom is also off the main hallway and looks out onto the old walled garden and the Lomond Hills behind. The twin bedroom is off the lounge, through a hallway filled with books, magazines and DVD's The bathroom is fitted with an electric shower over the bath.

Outside, the lovely, well-stocked garden with views to the loch, has a BBQ, garden furniture, grass area and covered patio. It is enclosed to keep in children and dogs. There is a shed to lock up bicycles etc.
Smoking is only allowed in the sunroom and garden.

Things To Do
Walking
There are many local walks in beautiful scenery, down by the loch, up on the hill, along a river gorge or along the beaches of the Fife coast. More walks in Perth & Kinross.

Fishing
Head down to Loch Leven – you can see the boats from the cottage.

Golf
The famous championship courses at St .Andrews, Gleneagles and Carnoustie are only a short distance away. Or try some of the local courses.

Gliding
Have you ever been in a glider? The Scottish Gliding Centre offers trial flights, but it is also relaxing to sit and watch the gliders above the hill behind the cottage.

Bird watchers can visit the RSPB nature reserve at Vane Farm. Thousands of geese spend the winter here and can be seen most days flying out to their feeding grounds.

Cycling
There are popular round-the-loch tracks and a shed at the cottage to lock up the bikes at the end of the day.

Motorsports
Visit Knockhill Racing Circuit for racing cars, superbikes, off-roading, maybe go-carting for the kids.
Curling and shooting are available in season.

For kids there is Kirkgate Park by the loch or a boat trip out to Castle Island where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner. There are wonderful beaches at St .Andrews. For wildlife there is Deep Sea World, Fife Animal Park, Blair Drummond Safari Park. Try Cluny Clays for archery, driving range, air rifles, quad bikes and more.

For events, T in the Park music festival is the big one, The Royal Highland Show is Scotland's top agricultural event and has something for all the family.

Castles
At Edinburgh, Stirling, St Andrews, Falkland, Dollar. And so much more! There are plenty other tourist attractions just a short drive from the cottage.

DIRECTIONS
Travelling on the M90(Edinburgh-Perth) leave at junction 6, take the exit through Kinross, travel about 4 miles east on the A911 Kinross to Glenrothes. The Gate Lodge is first on the left on reaching Easter Balgedie.
