The result is a stunning house, set in a beautiful wild garden, packed with character and charm. Falls of Holm AccommodationGreat care has been taken to ensure that Falls of Holm is in keeping with and shares the character of its surrounding environs as we are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the landscape. The peaceful surroundings of Falls of Holm, in beautiful Glenisla, are mirrored within the house. The luxurious accommodation comprises one king size room and one traditional double room, on the ground floor and one twin / king / family room upstairs. All are furnished with comfortable Egyptian, cotton sheets and matching towels. Guests are given a hospitality tray of tea, coffee etc and complementary toiletries. Within each room extra pillows, bedding, television and a hair dryer are also provided. Evening meal may be available if ordered in advance. Free laundry facilities for those staying 2 nights or more. There is ample parking. Open all year. Environmentally friendly practices followed. Smoking Policy Falls of Holm is a ideal centre for day trips to Edinburgh, Dundee, Stirling, Perth, Aberdeen and St. Andrews. Falls of Holm is situated on the edge of Glenisla on the B951 Kirriemuir to Glenisla road. Located in a truly beautiful part of Angus, Falls of Holm is well situated for anyone wishing to visit the Angus area and particularly the Angus glens. Willie and Elizabeth Activities in Angus and Perthshire For those wishing to experience a real sense of getting away from it all, try a pony trek through the mountains of Glenisla at the Glenmarkie Trekking Centre. Falls of Holm is also only 40 minutes drive from Glenshee Ski Centre and even closer to the Cairngorm National Park where there is some fantastic cross country ski-ing and winter mountaineering to be found in the winter months. We, offer a drying room and free laundry facilities to guests who stay 2 nights of more. Bird watching and Nature For bird watchers, both Kinnordy Loch and Lintrathen Loch are very close by. Both lochs have hides which are open to the public all year round. Montrose Basin, a magnet for bird watchers, is also only 40 minutes drive. At Falls of Holm nature walks have been designed around the farm for the enjoyment of our visitors. Take a stroll through the hillside flower meadow, along the edge of the burn or through the garden grounds to the orchard. Alternatively, just sit back and observe it all from the comfort of our lounge or patio. Golfing Holiday Other nearby golf courses include Kirriemuir Golf Course, Alyth Golf Course, Strathmore Golf Course, Glenisla Golf Course and Forfar Golf Course. Golfing packages are available at the local tourist information offices and we would be happy to assist organise trips during your stay. Shooting and Fishing Holidays For those visiting the area for a fishing break the South Esk, the North Esk and the Tay are among the many rivers which are close by. There are also many trout rivers and lochs in the area - Lintrathen Loch, being only one, a mere 2 miles away. We would be pleased to assist with any bookings you would like to make and provide those staying for two nights or more with laundry facilities. Castles and Gardens in Angus Family home of the Earls of Strathmore and a royal residence since 1372, Glamis was the childhood home of HM queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and legendary setting of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’. One of the finest folk collections in Scotland is housed in the Angus Folk Museum, Glamis. In Kirriemuir, Barrie’s birthplace is of great interest. The house contains a museum of J.M. Barrie’s achievements, and houses a Peter Pan display. There are many other attractions close by – here are just a few: Scone Palace, the crowning place of Scottish kings, where Macbeth, Robert the Bruce and Charles II were crowned. The traditional home of the Stone of Scone, it is also the family home of the Earls of Mansfield. It was the capital of Pictavia from the 5th Century onwards. The ruins of Arbroath Abbey, founded in 1178 - famous for being the venue for the assembly which signed the Declaration of Arbroath in1320 asserting Scotland’s independence from England. The historic ships, Discovery and 46 gun warship, Frigate Unicorn, built in 1824 and now retired to Dundee. Glamis Castle Gardens, grounds and pinetum - landscaped towards the end of the 18th century contain an Italian garden and nearby nature trails. Dundee Botanic Garden features many species of indigenous British plants as well as representative collections of important plants from all continents of the world.
