Bank House is a centrally located B&B that was opened in
the Spring of 2006, following a total refurbishment, offers the visitor
to Melrose and the Scottish Borders a first class experience
in very well appointed surroundings.
A warm welcome awaits each visitor we will ensure that your stay, be
it a single night or several, will be memorable.
All our bedrooms are recently redecorated and are en-suite.
Being established within a substantial stone built house of the 19th century
no two rooms are the same so whichever room you get it will be individualistic
and full of character.
In the morning you will receive an appetising breakfast that will suit
those who enjoy a full traditional Scottish breakfast to those who look
for the healthy options.
The moment you enter the hallway you can sense that this is a building
that has been well maintained and refurbished to a very high standard.
Old Bank House B&B Accommodation
All the visitor accommodation and bedrooms are upstairs, the dining room
/ sitting room on the first level and the bedrooms on the second.
We have three en-suite bedrooms all individually decorated
and furnished with quality furniture and fittings. You can be assured
of a good nights sleep.
The two twin bedded rooms are particularly bright with
windows that are south facing looking out over the High Street to the
Eildon Hills behind.
Through side windows views onto the High Street and right towards the
famous Greenyards offer these rooms an interesting outlook.
The en-suite bathrooms with shower cabinet
are very well appointed, the charm of the rooms and facilities is the
individual nature of each of the guest bedrooms.
The Old Bank House B&B has one double bedded room.
This like the rest has recently been refurbished and equipped with quality
furniture and fittings.
The window from this room gives open views over Buccleuch Street to the
Gattonside hills on the north side of the River Tweed.
In the foreground are the playing fields of St Mary?s School and to the
right there is a great view of Melrose Abbey. In each room there is a
hospitality tray providing the guest with tea and coffee at any time of
day.
There is a colour television and easy chairs to relax into.
Enjoy the varied and fine pictures that adorn the walls, each room having
a style of its own.
Old Bank House B&B Facilities
In the large dining room, that was once the bank managers
office (in the days when the Bank Manager was one of the most respected
persons in the community) there is also the chance to sit down and relax
in comfortable settees.
With large bay window this is a bright room with views out over the centre
of Melrose.
In the morning after a comfortable nights sleep the guest is treated to
a traditional Scottish Breakfast in the surrounds of the large dining
room.
Seated at the large table the guest will feel pampered and well fed before
setting out for a day in the attractive.

When you come to stay at the Old Bank House in Melrose
you are at the very heart of the beautiful and historic Scottish Borders.
This section is simply a sample of what is on offer and what you might
like to do when you are our guest.
You might want to walking, fishing, golfing, cycling, visiting stately
homes, gardens and museums or simply enjoying the beautiful countryside.
Outdoor Centres are located at:

Fitness Centres:
Visitors might like to try the Swimming Pool in Galashiels, the Running
Track and fitness centre in Tweedbank or the Teviotdale local Leisure
Centre in Hawick with its pool, fitness room, squash courts, play areas
for children and eating facilities.
Fishing on the Rivers Tweed and Teviot
- famous for Salmon. Although you may not have a permit for these there
are other rivers, lochs and reservoirs where the visitor can get access
to wonderful fishing opportunities.
Golf is available to the visitor in Melrose and close
by in Galashiels and St Boswells as well as the many courses throughout
the region.
The Borders has two Championship courses at Cardrona
and Roxburghe.
You will never be far away from either an 18 hole or 9 hole course, and
you may be able to benefit from the well known "Freedom of the Fairways"
ticket for either 3 or 5 days.
The pass will allow you to play any of the 14 course in the scheme, from
Roxburgh through to Eyemouth, Hawick to Peebles.
The Cyclist is also well catered for with the maze of quiet roads that
criss cross between the sleepy border towns. Enjoy the Cycling
Festival in June.
For the mountain biker the famous Glentree centre is only 25 minutes away.

and historical border peel towers all worth a visit. Examples being:

shops in either Hawick, Jedburgh or Galashiels. Take time out to buy garments
made in fine cashmere or lambswool.
These garments can be purchased at keen prices and are a lovely souvenir
of your stay.

Directions
Getting There by Car
From Edinburgh take the A68 South, which is signposted for 'Jedburgh'.
Two miles after the village of Earlston take the second exit at the roundabout
for A6091,Galashiels.
After approximately one mile turn right at the junction for Melrose.
Follow the road into town and enter the Market Square, then travel down
the High Street (which is one way) and at the bottom turn right into Buccleuch
Street.
Old Bank House Bed and Breakfast is just around the corner on your right
hand side.
