Nestling beside Loch Feochan in Argyll, Scotland, lays Knipoch Hotel (pronounced neepoch - och as in loch). This four star country house hotel is privately owned and run by the Craig family. We opened Knipoch as a hotel in 1981 when the original building was refurbished with the reception, kitchen and bedroom wing being added. Prior to this it was our family home with a history. In 1592, Campbell, Thane of Cawdor was assassinated here at the "house of Knipoch in Lorne". In England as well as Scotland, hotels vary and individually owned hotels each have a personality. At 22 rooms (including suites), Knipoch Hotel is small enough to care for our guests personally, yet large enough to be a hotel. Three generations of the Craig Family run Knipoch Hotel, although the youngest are still in training! Knipoch Hotel AccommodationAt Knipoch hotel we have 22 bedrooms including two suites and a triple room. All of our rooms are en-suite, with combined bath and shower - and have heating, direct dial telephone, TV, radio and hairdryer. Each room has a delightful view of either the surrounding countryside or Loch Feochan. Wi Fi is available in the public rooms. Pet Policy Restaurant and Bar In Knipoch there are three dining rooms. Each room has its unique atmosphere. The first and smallest is the Red Dining Room, which is oak, paneled using paneling recovered from the ruins of Ypres Cathedral. The open fire adds to the cosy atmosphere. The largest dining room is the Gold Room, which is also wood paneled, enhanced with signed Russell Flint’s prints. Lastly the Stone Room, which would have been the original Knipoch House, was built in 15th century and was the site of the assassination of Campbell of Cawdor. For functions we can seat up to 45 between the three dining rooms. A standing buffet would allow up to 60. At Knipoch we always use the finest, seasonally locally sourced products. Our menu changes daily to represent that seasonality. Outstanding amongst this is our home smoked salmon.
