The chalets are nestled throughout seven acres of scenic wooded hillside in the peace and calm of Lerags Glen only three miles from Oban, "Gateway to the Isles" in Argyll, Scotland. Lagnakeil’s location allows you to take full advantage of all that the west coast Highlands of Scotland has to offer, ensuring you have a memorable holiday. We are open all year and offer short breaks out of season. At Lagnakeil we can offer you a choice of four self catering holiday cottages and one holiday apartment in Oban, sleeping from 5 to 12. Each of the four cottages and houses and one apartment are individual and have all recently been upgraded and refurbished. All now have flatscreen TV's with Sky FreeSat TV channels giving a wide range of channels & radio. You can choose from; . Pitstruan Cottage, which sleeps 10 and has a very tranquil setting
right next to the loch. Lodges Our Lodges sleep 1-6 persons comfortably in 1 to 3 bedrooms and make ideal family holiday accommodation. Every Lodge is self contained and includes a newly fitted kitchen, dishwashers in our Ash, Conifer and Poplar Lodges, electric cooker, microwave, water heater and appliances. All Lodges have been newly refurbished over the past 5 years. All bedrooms are fitted to a high standard, with linen provided (beds made up for arrival) and all bathrooms have a full range of en-suite facilities with showers fitted above bath. The spacious dining/living rooms with colour TV and Sky FreeSat TV channels are extremely comfortable and ideal for those relaxing moments. Whichever self catering Chalet you choose you'll discover each has a character of its own great to come home to after a day out exploring the area. Pet Policy Being able to bring pets on holiday takes much of the stress out of knowing what to do with them while you are away - no more pet kennels or having to get friends or neighbours to look after them for you. It is also much less stressful for your pet to come along and not have to face a week or fortnight of separation. Argyll has an abundance of various types of walks available for you so you can take full advantage of all that this area has to offer; from low walks along Crinan canal, to numerous Forestry Commission marked walks and more strenuous walks including munro bagging mountain walks over 3000 feet so there is something for everyone. We always ask our clients to be respectful of our cottages and lodges if they bring pets with them on holiday, and to ensure that the animal does not abuse the furnishings or outdoor spaces as this makes it much easier for us to continue to offer accommodation where dogs and other pets are allowed. Oban The town was first made popular in the time of Queen Victoria. She called it "one of the finest spots we have seen" and from the early 1800’s visitors flocked to the place aboard the Comet steamship which linked Glasgow and Oban. The Isles All are accessible to visitors through organise trips. Ferries to the islands are run by Caledonian Macbrayne. Activities & Things to do Discovering the surrounding countryside is fun, horse riding with one of Oban’s many riding schools or perhaps take in a round of golf at Oban’s 18 hole golf course. Oban’s Tourist Information Centre in Argyll Square is a great place to find out what’s going on in the area during your stay. Take to the clear waters around Oban and Lorn for sailing, sub-aqua diving, canoeing and sea angling or cruise to the head of Loch Etive for a unique experience. In May there’s the Three Peaks Race and August brings yachts taking part in the Tennent’s "West Highland Week". Free fishing can be organized for our guests on Loch Scammadale, down the Glen at Loch Feochan your own boat can be launched. Why not visit the glorious gardens of Argyll when you stay. There’s so much to see in the area, including Ardchattan Priory - Scotland’s second oldest inhabited house, the Connel Bridge - a replica of the world-famous Forth Bridge, Europe’s only seawater falls at the ‘Falls of Lora’, and the ruins of Dunollie Castle. Every bend in the road reveals a new treasure. A Lagnakeil lodge is a great base for exploring where guests can roam freely are exciting, yet safe for children to explore. There are forestry trails and coastal walks as well as some fine "Munros" (Scottish mountains over 3,000 feet) for hill walkers. Only a short walk up the Glen you will find a Country Inn serving good home cooked food and fine ales, during the summer months music evenings and a traditional highland ceilidh are held.
