Jeff and Jane Darby would like to welcome you to their West Highland home to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Glen Feochan. The cottage has expansive views over the glen to the front The cottage is sited beside the old drovers road that began on the Islands and then led up Glen Feochan, eventually leading to Loch Awe and beyond. We would be delighted to share maps of the area with you and discuss options for a days activity. Sheep Fank Cottage is just 4.5 miles south of the bustling port of Oban with its ferry links to the Islands, the cottage is thus an ideal base from which to explore the area with its magnificent scenery and rich history.Oban has a range of shops and restaurants as well as a renowned golf club, cinema, swimming pool, health clubs and, of course a world famous distillery. Sheep Fank Cottage AccommodationAccommodation comprises three rooms. two are large ensuite bedrooms , one of which can accommodate a family of 4, both having king sized double beds. We also have a twin bedded room with a private bathroom. All rooms have facilities to make your stay enjoyable including comfortable seats to relax in whilst watching the flatscreen TV/DVD and an area where your choice of a hot drink can be made from the hospitality tray provided. The bedrooms all have the facilities that you would expect to make your stay enjoyable, comfortable beds, dressing table with tissues, cotton balls and face pads as well as a mirror and hairdryer. The en-suite shower rooms or private bathroom all have hand wash, shower gel and body lotion. All bedrooms have quality bed linen and luxury towels. Please note that this is non smoking accommodation, has no wheelchair access, and does not accept pets. Mull is a spacious, en-suite, family room with a king size and single bed. Should it be needed, there is room for a further single bed. It has a comfortable seating area where you can take your ease . Iona is a generously sized, en-suite room with a king size bed and welcoming seating area in which to unwind. There is room to place a single bed should you need it as a family bedroom. Kerrera is a twin bedded room with a private bathroom. There are two comfortable seats in which to relax and views over the glen. Breakfast Light evening meals, when requested, are served in our large dining room. We also have a small library DVD's, books and games for guests to use during their stay. Breakfast is served in our dining room between 7.30 a.m. And 9.00 a.m. earlier/later times can be arranged, within reason. Continental and vegetarian breakfast catered for with prior notification. All ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible. Attractions The cottage is situated in Glen Feochan which has unspoiled landscapes to explore and wild life to discover. The area is rich in ancient history and you may choose to find the location of the Serpent Mound, the Crannog in Loch Nell or one of the many Iron Age Forts located in the hills. All of these can be done on foot using the cottage as your base. The proximity to Oban, a tourist centre for the Western Highlands, adds further scope to your choice of sports, such as swimming, fishing, golf, cycling, sports club activities, kayaking, bowls and tennis. You could spend the day on the beach, Little Ganavan and Ganavan are just 2 miles from the town centre. Horse riding can be arranged from several locations nearby. From the port of Oban the Caledonian McBrayne ferries can take you to
the islands including, Mull and Iona. You may choose to visit the informal gardens open to you through the Yellow Garden scheme operating in Scotland or you may visit the famous Arduaine Gardens. It is possible to go ice climbing in the famous Ice Factor, Kinlochleven or join the climbing and high spaces experience there; not forgetting the challenges that Ben Nevis, Glen Coe and other mountainous areas can offer. Sight seeing opportunities include castles, mountains, rivers, lochs and fantastic seascapes, visiting seal islands, exhilarating boat excursions, touring the Oban Distillery, enjoying the Sea Life Centre. One could even join in the Highland Games in Fort William - a fantastic experience. The choice is wide, relaxing or challenging, informative or pure pleasure - dependent on your mood. From the south of Oban, on the A816, on reaching Kilmore, turn right on the road marked Barran, Glen Lonan and Musdale and follow the instruction given above. Getting There by Railway: By prior arrangement transport may be available from the owners of the property. Getting There by Ferry: Alternatively a bus, number 418, can be taken from the bus station outside Oban train station to Barran which is just 1/2 mile from Sheep Fank Cottage.
