Thornloe is a substantial Victorian House on 3 floors situated on a hill overlooking Oban Bay with stunning views towards the Isle of Kerrera and across to Mull. On a fine day you can relax on our Patio in the garden and watch the many ferries to the Islands go by or enjoy the colourful sunsets. We are centrally located and close to Atlantis Leisure Centre which includes an indoor swimming pool,squash and tennis courts, health & fitness suites as well as a bouldering wall for children. We are just 5 minutes walk from the Town centre. Thornloe Guest House AccommodationThe house has been recently refurbished to a high standard throughout including upgrading of all shower/bathrooms and new comfortable beds to ensure a good nights sleep. All our 7 rooms are ensuite. All rooms have :- Hairdryers, Flatscreen Digital TVs with Freeview, hospitality trays, clock radios and shaver sockets. Additionally all our rooms have Digital Flat Screen TVs with Freeview. All the en suites have showers except from the twin room which also has a bath. Please note that Rooms 4,6 & 7 all have super kingsize beds & Room 2 has a Kingsize Four Poster Bed. Our single room has a small double bed. For a touch of luxury we have a large seaview room with a King Size Four Poster Bed which has a large shower room and seating area to enjoy the panoramic view across to Mull. There is a library of books, for our guests to use during their stay. A travel cot is also available free of charge for small babies. For Guests travelling with their own laptop/notebook we have free wifi internet access. There is a library of books for our guests to use during their stay. A Playstation 2 is available to hire at a charge per day with a selection of games predominantly childrens. A travel cot is also available free of charge for small babies. Smoking Policy Valerie is a keen genealogist and more than happy to help with your research to find the elusive missing ancestors. Breakfast To keep waiting time to a minimum we do ask guests to complete a menu the night before. We are more than happy for people to change their minds in the morning or not to complete a menu however please bear in mind it will take longer to prepare. Organic Porridge is served from the end of September to April.If you have any special dietary requirements please contact us well in advance of your arrival to discuss. Oban Activities . Tours about Mull / Balamory Here at Thornloe we are committed to Protect the Environment and use energy saving light bulbs wherever possible, re-cycle all paper, newspaper, glass, plastic bottles, metal cans and ink cartridges. We use environmentally friendly cleaning products throughout the house as well as recycled paper. Additionally we use locally produced organic toiletries from Purdie's the Scottish soap company. As well as regular teas and coffees we also offer Fair Trade products and wherever possible use locally produced produce. During 2010 we changed all of our washing machines/dryers and fridges to A rated appliances. Towels across the world are washed daily often unnecessarily so we would ask that you re-use your towels. Damp towels can be left on the electric towel radiator in your bathroom to dry. To save energy the towels radiators are on a timer and come on in the morning and evenings. We monitor our energy consumption and encourage natural wildlife with several bird feeders in our garden. In the summer when our Buddleia is in full bloom it is a mass of butterflies. If we know in advance that our guests are arriving by public transport we offer to pick them up from the bus or train station or ferry terminal here in Oban during normal check in times of 3-7.00pm. How can you HELP? Most importantly please check that you have not left chargers plugged in without say a mobile phone attached as this is also a fire hazard. Leave any unwanted papers/magazines/cardboard/bottles next to the bin for recycling. DIRECTIONS It can not be accessed by car via Albert Lane which is a footpath only and Albert Road is a one way street .The car park and back of the house is on Dalriach Road. If you use web directions such as muitimap or AA these direct you from Deanery Brae into Breadalbane Street then Albert Lane which is impossible unless on foot or bicycle.
