Fisherfield is the historic name for the community
of traditional fishermens cottages established along the shoreline
around Portree Bay.
The house has one of the most spectacular outlooks in Skye, situated
overlooking Portree Bay, with views across to Ben Tianavaig, and
beyond to the island of Raasay.
Located approximately one mile from Portree Village centre, the
house was the original Nicolson home built some seventy years ago
of imported red brick.

Activities
Hardly a week goes by on Skye without an event of some kind, but even
without organised concerts, festivals and shows, the Isle of Skye is a
holiday destination above most.
It's mountain ranges, the Cuillin, are internationally recognised for
the quality of walking and climbing, 'Munro-baggers' make Skye a primary
destination.
Coastal walks and easier rambles abound, with an incredible array of rare
and spectacular animals, birds and plants.
The historical heritage is everywhere; to be found in museums, and scattered
settlements and brochs.
If your taste is for the gentler pursuits, or you need rest and recuperation
from outdoor exertions, Skye has award-winning restaurants, arts and crafts,
festivals of all kinds, music in pubs, cinema, theatre if you want it,
it's likely that Skye covers it.
Directions
The Isle of Skye, on the west coast of Scotland is a long way from the
hustle and bustle, but is well served with transport links.
You can fly into Inverness airport as the nearest air link.
From there you can hire drive, or catch a bus direct to Portree.
If driving from further afield, you can find the best route map and description
using the AA Route Planner.
By road, you have a choice between coming up through
spectacular Glen Coe and Fort William, either taking the famous Road to
the Isles to Mallaig, catching the ferry to Armadale and continuing up
to Portree, or continuing up through Lochalsh to meet the Skye Bridge
at Kyle of Lochalsh.
Or you could choose to continue up the A9 and cut across Scotland through
some of the most rugged and beautiful of Highland scenery.
Once on Skye, the main road continues up through Broadford and Sligachan
and Fisherfield is easily found on the outskirts of Portree.
