Hillcroft is a traditional croft house, built
circa 1920, which has been extended and modernised to provide comfortable
en-suite B&B accommodation.
Hillcroft has spectacular views across Loch Snizort beag to the
Trotternish hills in the east with glimpses of the spectacular black
Cuillin ridge to the south.
Situated midway between Portree and Dunvegan on the A850, Hillcroft

Hillcroft is a traditional croft house built circa 1920, which has been
extended and modernised over the years.
Hillcroft in September 2007, have refurbished the whole house In particular
the bedrooms and ensuites have been updated to provide well appointed
guest rooms.
There is a comfortable sitting room with an open fire to sit round if
the evenings are chilly, and a bright sunny dining room for morning breakfast.

Activities
There is a 9-hole golf course at nearby Skeabost Hotels where a day’s
fishing can also be arranged, and pony trekking is available at Suledale.
For those interested in arts and crafts there is the Edinbane pottery
and the galleries and craft shops in Waternish which is just a short drive
from Hillcroft.
There are several fine eating places nearby, including Skeabost House
Hotel and Country Club at Skeabost Bridge, The Lodge at Edinbane, Greshornish
House on the shores of Loch Greshornish, The Stein Inn and The Loch Bay
Fish Restaurant both at Stein, with the renowned The Three Chimneys Restaurant
at Colbost just a 20 minute drive from the house.
Directions
Getting There by Car
If arriving in Skye via the Skye road bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh, turn
right at the roundabout at the end of bridge and proceed to Portree on
the A87 (approx 30 miles), at Portree turn bear to Uig, still on the A87,
and approx 4 miles later take the left hand turn signposted to Dunvegan
(A850).
Hillcroft is about 4 miles from this junction on the RHS of the main road
(NB do not turn into the road marked Treaslane, we are actually on the
main road immediately after this turn).
If taking the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale, drive from Armadale to Portree
and then proceed as above.
NB – if you are using sat nav and do not want to go to Mallaig,
please the sat nav for Kyle of Lochalsh as otherwise you will probably
end up in Mallaig anyway.
Getting There by Railway
Take the train either from Inverness or Fort William to Kyle of Lochalsh,
and then catch a bus to Portree.
Then take bus from Portree to Dunvegan and alight at Treaslane.
We are on the RHS of the road just after the bus stop.
Getting there by Aeroplane
Fly to Inverness airport which is about 6 miles east of inverness, take
the airport bus to Inverness and then you can either catch a train or
the bus to Portree.
Train station and Bus station are located next to the Eastgate Centre.
Take the train to Kyle of Lochalsh then bus to Portree as directed above.
If travelling by bus from Inverness, then the bus comes directly to Portree
(about 3 hour journey) then get local bus to Dunvegan and alight at Treaslane.
Getting There by Ferry
Ferry from Mallaig to Armadale, then drive north on theA851, turn left
at the t-juntion with the A87 and proceed to Portree.
Just after the school, take the road signposted to Uig (A87), then 4 miles
along this road take the left fork signposted to Dunvegan (A850).
We are about 4 miles along this road, immediately after the signpost for
Treaslane.
Do not turn right here, as we are the house on the right hand side immediately
after this turn.
