Marmalade Scotland

Set majestically in mature gardens, commanding views over the village of Portree, the loch and the Cuillin Mountains you will find Marmalade.

This Georgian building is perfect for families, with a children's play area and plenty of scope for exploring in the extensive gardens.
With fully refurbished contemporary accommodation, exceptionally friendly service and good traditional home cooking, you will find Marmalade is an excellent base whilst you holiday on the beautiful Island of Skye.

Marmalade Accommodation

Our original Georgian staircase leads up from the Restaurant to 7 spacious bedrooms, all en-suite.
Take a look out the window and the views simply take your breath away.
Mature oak trees in the gardens frame Viewfield, Portree bay and then outline the Cuillin Mountains.

The Bar
Stylish and sophisticated, relaxed and friendly, with a broad selection of beers and local ales, a wide range of Scottish malts and exotic wines from all parts of the world.
Come and have a quiet drink with us, either inside or outside in our lovely scenic beer garden.
The Garden
The mature Gardens provide a lovely alfresco dining area, with walkways to explore and, when the weather allows, a bouncy castle!
The Bar opens out to the rear to reveal an intimate, heated courtyard for more alfresco dining.
Children can look for our resident hens under the rhododendron bushes, play on the lawn or explore the lovely gardens, while you relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Getting there from the Information Centre
From TIC proceed into main square, on the corner where the Bank of Scotland is sited turn left, proceed up the hill.
Hotel is approx 400 yards up hill on the left.

Getting There by Railway
Nearest station Kyle of Lochalsh 34 miles

Getting there by Aeroplane
Approx 115 miles from Inverness airport

Travelling by car from Inverness
Our nearest Airport is Inverness Airport.
(Car hire is available there).
Follow the road from the airport on to the A96.
At the first roundabout, take the 3rd exit to join the A9 (signposted Ullapool, Wick).
At the Longman Roundabout, take the second exit, signposted Wick.
Continue along the A9 until you get to the Tore Roundabout, where you take the second exit on to the A835 (signposted Ullapool).
At the next roundabout, take the second exit.
Continue along the A835, pass through Garve and then turn left on to the A832.
Follow all directions for Kyle of Lochalsh until you reach the famous Skye Bridge.
Continue through Skye taking all signs for Portree.
Once you are in the village, take a left hand turn at the Portree Independent Hostel and another left at the Isles Hotel.
Continue up the hill until you see Marmalade on your left.

By car from Fort William and over the Mallaig Ferry
If you are choosing this route, please remember to pre book your place on the ferry by telephoning Caledonian MacBrayne.
Starting off from Fort William , take the signs for Inverness and the A82.
At the junction for Glen Nevis, turn left at the mini roundabout.
When you arrive at the junction with the A830 (Lochybridge Junction), turn left on the A830,
signposted Mallaig.
Continue along the road passing Glenfinnan Visitor Centre and Monument, Lochailort across the River Morar and the junction for Glasnacardoch.
The Mallaig ferry is situated down in the harbour.
On arrival in Armadale, depart the pier and continue on the A851 until you come to the T-junction at Skulamus.
Turn left on to the A87 until you get to Portree.
Once you are in the village, take a left hand turn at the Portree Independent Hostel and another left at the Isles Hotel.
Continue up the hill until you see Marmalade on your left.
