Ullapool, an appealing port and resort in Wester Ross, the fishing port of Ullapool in Wester Ross comes alive in summer when it receives a large influx of holidaymakers. Many move on by ferry to Stornoway on Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, but it is a good base for exploring the area, and has a marvellous setting jutting out into Loch Broom. Seagulls self catering holiday accommodation in Ullapool has been refurbished to a very high standard and can sleep up to six adults. Ullapool is located on the northwest coast of Scotland about 56 miles from the city of Inverness with its airport and rail connections. The area surrounding Ullapool is noted for its outstanding beauty and majestic scenery. Ullapool is also the ferry terminal for the Isle of Lewis with regular sailings to Stornoway making an unforgettable day trip. If you like walking, wildlife, birdwatching, fishing, boat trips, golf or just to be surrounded by fantastic breathtaking views then this is the place for you. Seagulls is located in one of Ullapool's quietest and loveliest streets but is only 3-5 minutes walk from the sea front and harbour where there are shops, restaurants and pubs that offer a variety of excellent food with or without live music. Two minutes walk from Seagulls is the Ullapool Leisure Centre with its, swimming pool, sports hall, sauna, gym and tennis courts. The Ullapool Golf course is 3 minutes away by car. Five minutes walk from the house is the award winning Ullapool Museum. Seagulls AccommodationSeagulls self catering accommodation in Ullapool has three bedrooms sleeping two in each room. We have a kingsize bedroom, a double bedroom and a twin bedded room. There is a very well equipped kitchen, utility room, bathroom and additional toilet and wash basin downstairs. We have refurbished the house to a very high standard in order to achieve a 4 star status which we achieved in 2008. Seagulls has been available for holiday rental since May 2008 and has been very popular, far exceeding our expectations. Central heating, bed linen and towels are all provided. Electricity and heating are included in the rates. A heating surcharge applies for the winter months. We have SKY TV on a 32” flatscreen TV. Broadband wireless internet connection also available. A cot and highchair can be provided free of charge on request. Smoking Policy Pet Policy We have every confidence that the house will be appreciated by those who love the grandeur of Northwest Scotland. We particularly welcome, walkers, anglers, ornithologists, boating enthusiasts, cyclists and all those who want to share the experience of this fantastic part of Scotland described by the AA as scenery which is as good as it gets. Please note that in the main season we only let the whole house for whole weeks beginning on Saturdays. The Local Area The Ullapool Leisure Centre has a 25m swimming pool, sauna, sports hall, tennis courts and gym. The leisure centre is a two minute walk from Seagulls. The Ullapool Golf Course is 3 minutes away by car. Ullapool has a lively music scene in its pubs, village hall and McPhail Centre. There are a variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs serving food for all tastes. There is an Indian and a Chinese take away and also an award winning fish and chip shop by the harbour. Ullapool is also well served by a variety of shops, craft shops, supermarket, a chemist and medical centre. Sit by the harbour and watch the fishing boats and the Stornoway Ferry or watch the harbour seals or just enjoy the wonderful setting of Loch Broom with the mountains of An Teallach, Beinn Ghobhlach, Sail Mhor in the distance. Ullapool is a noted centre for walkers wanting to enjoy the Munros and Corbets that surround it. Take a day trip to the Isle of Lewis incorporated with a coach trip and see the famous Callanish Standing Stones. Or take a shorter local boat trip or cruise to The Summer Isles and see seals, a variety of seabirds and maybe a Minke Whale. Visit Isle Martin 4 miles from Seagulls by taking the ferry from Ardmair. Ardmair Bay is just 4 miles from Seagulls and has a stunning backdrop of Ben Mohr Coigach and a popular beach. See unforgettable sunsets from Rhue, 4 miles away. Drive to Gairloch on the road described by the AA as, "Scenery which is good as it gets" and visit the world famous Inverewe Tropical Gardens 57 miles away. Take half a day to drive the loop road to Lochinver and on to Drumbeg and enjoy one of the most stunning drives you are likely to experience. Eat one of the award winning pies in Lochinver. Visit the hydroponicum in Achiltibuie 32 miles by car and have tea or lunch or picnic whilst admiring the fabulous views of the Summer Isles. The Inverpolly Nature Reserve and Geopark are 20 minutes away by car. Beaches Going north on the Drumbeg loop road you will find more fabulous sandy beaches like: Achmelvich, Clachtoll, Clashnessie, there are more beaches further north. Durness and Balnakeil are at the top of Scotland. Getting there involves another stupendous drive of about 2 hours. Driving south to Gairloch you can turn off to one of the best beaches at Mellon Udrigle. Near Gairloch the famous Tropical Gardens at Inverewe are well worth a visit. Inverewe is a National Trust of Scotland attraction. Corrieshalloch Gorge is twelve miles from Ullapool and should not be missed if you like spectacular waterfalls. Inverness is 56 miles away and has a full range of bigger shops, castle and of Course Loch Ness. The Loch Ness Visitor centre at Drumnadrochit is about an hour and a half scenic drive away. We purchased the house in Oct 2007 and have redecorated it, fitted new carpets throughout and provided new furniture, appliances and equipment. Relax on our new leather reclining sofas, watch Sky TV or read one of our books. Bring your laptop and use our wireless broadband. Cook in our very well equipped kitchen. Eat on our new oak dining table. Use our BBQ in the garden. Use the drier and washing machine in the utility room. Admire the new bathroom and excellent shower. Sleep on our new high quality beds, one king, one double and two singles. There is an additional toilet and washbasin downstairs.
