The Skeleton Coast is a desolate area in north-western Namibia, where the Namib Desert meets the sea along this harsh and dramatic coastline. Mostly uninhabited by humans, but with desert-adapted wildlife flourishing in these harsh conditions, the mystery of the area draws tourists from far and wide.

Shipwreck Lodge Skeleton Coast

Aptly named after the remnants of thousands of ships which stranded along the Atlantic coastline, the Shipwreck Lodge is the only facility providing luxurious accommodation in the harsh conditions of the Skeleton Coast Park. Designed to depict the skeleton of a ship while attentively leaving a light footprint on the desert and natural resources, solar power and borehole water are provided.

Accommodation at Shipwreck Lodge

Ten cabins provide breathtaking views over the desert landscape, while protecting guests from the strong winds and dense fog. Eight twin cabins are available, and two family units can accommodate four persons each. The cabins are luxuriously furnished, and the décor reminds one of a ship’s cabin. Wooden walkways and sandy paths connect the cabins to each other and to the main lodge facilities.
