Beacon Vlei Guest Farm is a family friendly establishment centrally located on the famed Midlands Meander and only 1 kilometer from Michaelhouse School. The Midlands Meander offers visitors an abundance of art and craft shops.

There are also many fine restaurants, delicatessens and cheese farms in the Balgowan district, within 3 to 5 kilometer of Beacon Vlei. We serve dinner and breakfasts on the property. Dinner can be served in the cottages or have a romantic candle lit dinner in our beautiful dining room.

Beacon Vleil Accommodation

The Boathouse:
The cottage consists of a king bedroom en-suite which has panoramic views over the dam. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a large open plan living/dining room which has a big Jetmaster fireplace and Dstv. In the corner of the living room there is an alcove which has 2 single beds and a second bathroom with a shower. The cottage comes equipped with a braai.

Crane Cottage:
Crane Cottage is a relatively newly built cottage, completed in 2008. It is a very large 6 sleeper Old Natal style cottage with a large veranda looking over our 23 hectare private dam. It has two dining tables one inside and one outside on the veranda.

Otter Cottage:
Otter cottage is the most recent addition to our beautiful establishment, completed in November 2011 it is a similar Old Natal style design to Crane Cottage except the bedrooms are on the sides of the cottage rather than on the back and it is a 4 sleeper cottage.

Rose Cottage:
Rose cottage is the smallest of our cottages; although it is ideally suited for 2 it can sleep 4 comfortably as it has 2 inter leading bedrooms and one en-suite bathroom with a shower. The cottage is set back 40 meters from the water and looks onto a private garden.

Heron Cottage:
Otter cottage is the most recent addition to our beautiful establishment, completed in November 2011 it is a similar Old Natal style design to Crane Cottage except the bedrooms are on the sides of the cottage rather than on the back and it is a 4 sleeper cottage. The central room is an open plan kitchen, dining and living room which opens out onto the veranda looking over our 23 hectare private dam.

The Family Suite: (Bed and Breakfast)
The family suite is located in the Manor house; it is a Bed and Breakfast room which is ideally suited for a family of 4.

It consists of two inter leading bedrooms separated by a door and one private bathroom which is situated just of the second room. The front room has a king sized bed and a bay window which looks over our 23 hectare private dam. The second room has views around the gardens and has 2 single beds.

Activities and Attractions

At Beacon Vlei our objective is to provide our guests with an experience of a life time! Beacon Vlei and the Kwazulu Natal Midlands region is the ideal playground for adventure sportsmen, eco-tourists and for people to relax in a beautiful country setting.

Guests need not leave the farm to enjoy fishing, birding, boating and picnicking after a leisurely walk around our beautiful property. Other activities that can be arranged in the surrounding countryside include hot air ballooning, mountain biking, horse riding, canopy tours, battlefield tours and even paragliding.

With an abundance of health hydros and day spas nearby, Beacon Vlei can also make the necessary arrangements for a variety of relaxing and therapeutic treatments in our idyllic country surroundings.
