Highveld of Mpumalanga. Its century-old farm homestead with its
old-world charm and ambience offers a tranquil and peaceful haven
secluded from the surrounding highly industrialised area.Unobstructed
highveld vistas of unspoilt grasslands, abundant bird life and old-fashioned
hospitality create a truly unique experience, whether you stay over

1915 main homestead has been lovingly restored to its former splendour

We serve five-star breakfasts in the main homestead, with dinner available
on request. Enjoy our exclusive gourmet catering for business functions
or that special occasion, be it brunch, lunch, dinner or high tea to celebrate

From Gauteng: follow N17 eastwards. 15 km past the town of Trichardt, a road sign will indicate the turn-off to Baanbreker. Turn right at this sign and follow the gravel road and signs for 6 km. The entrance to Poplar Grove is on your left-hand side just beyond the railway crossing.
From Bethal: follow N17 in western direction. 10 km outside
town, a road sign will indicate the turn-off to Baanbreker. Turn left
at this sign and follow the gravel road and signs for 6 km. The entrance
to Poplar Grove is on your left-hand side just beyond the railway crossing.
Poplar Grove Guest Farm is the perfect getaway venue, a welcoming retreat
from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The surrounding grasslands allow
excellent highveld birding, with regular sightings of blue korhaan, flamingo,
secretary bird, bald ibis and crested grebe, to name but a few.
Unwind in the farm’s own bird hide, or order a picnic basket to
linger under weeping willow trees. Explore the walking trail to the nearby
dam where various duck, egret and heron species and a host of other inland
water birds can be observed.
Experience the vast open highveld plains and or enjoy the variety of indigenous
veld flowers in spring and fields full of cosmos in autumn.
