Welcome to Acorn Cottages, situated in the heart of the stunning Cathkin Valley, Central Drakensberg. Enjoy the heavenly scenery all around you from the peace and privacy of your cottage or suite. Look up at the imposing Drakensberg Mountain peaks of Champagne
Castle and Catkin Peak with nearby access to the peaks of Cathedral
Peak, the majestic Amphitheatre at Royal Natal National Park, Injisuthi
and Giants Castle. |

You have the best of both worlds – total peace and quiet and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, but close to all the hiking trails, adventure activities, shows and restaurants.
Spend your time relaxing in your cosy and private cottage or suite, each with its own fireplace and braai or around the rock pool. Take a short walk down to the river, past the two ponds or take a short drive to any of the various activities around us.
Room Options Include:
Bed and Breakfast Rooms
Each of our bed and breakfast rooms open up onto the front veranda and
have views overlooking the rock pool and mountains. Either single beds
or queen size beds are offered.
Each has full en-suite bathrooms. A tea and coffee tray is provided and a bar fridge. Each room has a fireplace for cold winters and bathroom heatersand ceiling fans with remote control for summers.
• Kingfisher Suite
It’s an upstairs unit suitable for couples or two single people.
The main attraction is the size and the magnificent views from every window,
but particularly from the veranda. Suitable for two people but an extra
bed can be added. Either self-cater or bed and breakfast is offered.
• Guinea-fowl Cottage
A very attractive suite with one open plan room, with a queen size bed,
cable TV, a gas heater and bathroom. It opens out onto its own garden
with braai area and has a small kitchenette, with a two plate stove and
microwave. A bar fridge, toaster and kettle is also provided.
• Barn Owl Cottage
A really romantic cottage, used for honeymoons and romantic holidays.
It stands on its own with roses all around and is private. There are oregan
prune sash windows and door. The cottage is well and comfortably equipped.
• Experience true country life in South Africa where we all live in harmony. Sheep, cows and even guinea fowl stroll around at leisure. You might see rabbits running around between the bushes. Take a walk down to the ponds and the river, which is an excellent place to have a picnic.
• Sports
All sports – squash, volley ball, rowing, mountain biking, archery,
golf, bowls, fly fishing and cycling are available within a short drive
from Acorn Cottages.
