Situated in the foothills of the Central Drakensberg mountains, in the beautiful Champagne Valley, are the totally unique Zulu Hut, Inkunzi Cave and Diddly Squat Eco Abode. Overlooking the Drakensberg world heritage site and neighboring the world famous Drakensberg Boys’ Choir School, you will be guaranteed a peaceful, serene and safe break away from the city. The area boasts several places of interest, as well as shops,
restaurants and adventure activities. |

The Hut, Cave and Eco Abode have rock finish inside and out, with rock art and carvings on the walls, ensuring an all-African experience.
Inkunzi Cave
Inkunzi Cave was built by local artist and owner, Steve Bull, as a tribute
to the first people of South Africa, the San. It has a rock finish both
inside and out, a full bathroom with luxurious rock bath and a separate
toilet and rock shower. Genuine San artifacts decorate the walls.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering accommodation, with a small cooker, convection microwave and fridge. It sleeps 2 people comfortably, with a double bed in the separate bedroom. There is also a large, double sleeper couch in the lounge/kitchen area for another couple.
Cable TV, music system and heater ensure your comfort at all times. The Cave opens out on to a large rock pool and there are braai facilities alongside the pool. The pool is not fenced so is not suitable for families with toddlers.
The Zulu Hut
The Zulu Hut was originally built of thatch, in the traditional Zulu style.
Later it was covered with a concrete rock finish and a bathroom and separate
bedroom added.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering accommodation. The hut has a separate bedroom with double bed, a double sleeper couch in the lounge/kitchen area and a single bed suspended from the roof above the double sleeper couch. It sleeps 2 people comfortably.
There is a rock finish bathroom with a toilet and a large double shower. Original Zulu art and beadwork decorate the walls.
The Diddly Squat Eco Abode
Diddly Squat is the third of our amazing self-catering units. Situated
in a private corner of the garden, well screened from everybody else,
this is an “up-market” Eco Abode. Sunken into the ground,
with windows at ground level providing an uninterrupted view of the mountain.
Cook a meal on the old wood stove, enjoy a refreshing solar heated shower
or lie on the bed and enjoy the changing moods of Champagne Castle and
Cathkin Peak.
There is a very efficient solar plug point for charging cellphones and laptops, listening to music or watching DVDs on your laptop. Enjoy sundowners in the small “heated” pool while the meat sizzles on the braai.
