Starred Robin Cottage
Starred Robin Cottage is a quaint, English-style country cottage, decorated
with oak furniture with cream and white palette. The deck is garlanded
with rambling roses and overlooks a fairy ring of silver birch trees and
the rolling lawn leads down into the forest's stream. A wooden ladder
leads up to an additional loft with two single beds.
The cottage's namesake, a pair of Starred Robins, is resident. This shy insect eater is notoriously difficult to spot. You are also likely to see the troop of Samango monkeys who regularly raid the lemon tree. Children will be delighted to find the playground near this cottage, it includes a jungle gym and swing.
Wood Owl Cottage
An African elegance vibe was instilled in Wood Owl Cottage. Mohair curtains,
wicker chairs and dark wood furniture create luxurious warmth and elegance
along with the bespoke four poster bed. This cottage offers many pleasures
- the deck overlooks the forest, the doors open onto the heated pool and
there is a fragrant rose garden just around the corner.
Both cottages have a queen-sized bed and an antique cast iron Victorian tub and shower in the en-suite bathroom. The spacious, open plan living area has a multi-fuel cast-iron stove as a fireplace with a sleeper couch for children.
The kitchen is equipped with a two plate hob, fridge and microwave. The sun deck has a small braai. There is an electronic safe available, while laundry service and a housekeeper is available if required.
Chapel
Up a steep country road, deep in the Dargle Valley in the midlands, is
the large Crab Apple Chapel. Covered in ivy, it is a picture perfect country
chapel. An icon in the area, it has now grown into a popular wedding chapel.
The chapel seats up to 138 people on church pews and 180 with the additional number made up with chairs. There are fully stocked ablution facilities and onsite parking with attendants. It is well signposted and electricity is supplied. It is 20 kilometres from Howick.
Your own pastor will be welcomed as Crab Apple Chapel is multi-denominational. As Crab Apple endeavors to preserve the area's natural beauty, please feel free to release any nature friendly substances such as petals, bubbles, butterflies or birds on exiting the chapel but please avoid anything that will need to be cleared away or could harm the environment.
Carriage
Romantic, exhilarating, novel and exciting are just some of the words
used to describe the ride on a Crab Apple Carriage. A horse and carriage
adds to a wedding or special occasion a sense of fantasy. For many a bride
it is a dream come true.
