Set on 2000 hectares in a secluded valley on the southern side of the Inhluzane Mountain, in the Upper Dargle, Tillietudlem offers an extraordinary eco-experience with a variety of activities available. Accommodation is available in two lodges. Whether you are looking for the pampered surrounds of the lovingly restored 105 year old Ogram’s Colonial House with its splendid views of the dams and mountains or the seclusion of the self-catering Helga Manzi Lodge set over a spectacular 30 metre waterfall and indigenous forest.
Ogram’s Colonial House
Ogram’s lodge is a luxurious classical colonial farm house dating
back to the late 19th century, set under a huge oak tree overlooking several
tranquil dams, rolling lawns and a magical feeling of absolute peace.
This luxuriously furnished 4 star graded AA Superior Guest House accommodates 10 guests in 5 double bedrooms with 5 en-suite bathrooms. All bedrooms are equipped with electric blankets, gas heaters and hairdryers.
The 2 new suites have under floor heating and fireplaces in their own small private sitting rooms. Surrounded by a wide flagstone covered veranda, it’s easy to spend away the days watching the otters playing in the dam below, taking advantage of the excellent trophy fly fishing literally on your doorstep or dining at your leisure whilst watching the herds of wildebeest grazing on the hillsides.
Telephone, wireless internet connection and cable TV are just some of the facilities on offer. Ogram’s Colonial house is fully catered, providing delicious farm fresh fare. Guests may take advantage of our full board rates, or just enjoy dinner and breakfast then meander off for lunch.
Trout Fishing

Tillietudlem offers exceptional and exclusive fly fishing for Rainbow
and Brown trout in 4 dams and the Eland’s river. The waters are
managed for trophy fishing with fish in excess of 4 kilograms and a catch
and release policy.
The Upper Dargle area is renowned for being one of the best trout fishing locations in South Africa due to the pristine water and high altitude. Enjoy some of the country’s best fly fishing in a tranquil natural environment.
Walking and Game Viewing
Experience the ecological splendors and tranquility of Tillietudlem on
foot. The extensive reserve includes a diverse combination of mountain
grassland, indigenous forest and wetlands which provide habitat for a
prodigious variety of game animal and bird species.
Guided game walks, bird watching and flora walks with our ranger are a great way to learn more about the flora and fauna of the area. Alternatively self-guided trials are provided for those keen to explore this African jewel of nature. The reserve has large herds and family groups of Eland, Wildebeest, Zebra, Waterbuck, Blesbuck, Oribi, Reed Buck, Mountain Reedbuck, Vaal Reibok, Bushbuck and Duiker.
