Albany Hotel is a Durban Central Hotel that specializes in offering the
best hotel accommodation at affordable rates to corporate business, honeymooners,
sports teams, groups and holiday makers alike.
We also specialize in hosting unforgettable wedding receptions. We have
a number of wedding venues to choose from depending on the size of the
function required.
The Hotel offers business conference and function facilities from small
to large events.
We have three business conference venues available with seating capacity
of up to 120 delegates.
This Durban Hotel is newly renovated and just three blocks from Durban's
International Convention Centre (ICC) and Exhibition site.
We're opposite the City Hall, and adjacent to the famous Natal Playhouse
Theatre. Only five minutes drive to Moses Mabhida Stadium, Sahara Kingsmead

All the rooms include marble bathrooms / showers en-suite, wireless internet

views of the Francis Farewell Gardens.
Single Back Facing Rooms
Sleeps maximum of 2, has 1 double bed & shower only and includes English
breakfast.
Single Albany Facing Rooms
Sleeps maximum of 2,has 1 double bed & shower only and includes full
English breakfast.
Double / Twin / Triple City Hall Facing Rooms
Sleeps maximum 2 to 3, has 1 queen bed, 1 single bed, bath & shower
and includes full English breakfast.
25 Family Smith Street Facing Rooms
Sleeps maximum of 4, has 2 queen beds or 1 queen bed & 2 single beds
and includes full English breakfast.
3 Paraplegic Rooms
These sleep a maximum of 2, they are fitted with 1 queen bed & shower

Group's other hotels, located on Durban's Beachfront and the Durban CBD.
We can offer Business Conference and Function Facilities for small to
large Events. We have ten Conference Venues available with 18 to 250 seating
capacity. So no matter what Business Conference Venue you’re looking
for, we cater from the functional to the luxurious.
For conferences and meetings, we provide TV / VCR / DVD, PA system, over
head projector, flip charts, screens, slide projector, digital projectors,
notepads and pens.
There are delegate packages that cater for a minimum of 10 delegates and
they include tea / coffee on arrival, ea/coffee and cream scones served
mid-morning, buffet lunch served in dining room, tea / coffee and biscuits
served mid-afternoon, standard equipment, room hire, juice, water and

The Valley of 1000 Hills
The Valley of 1000 Hills is a 25 minute drive west of the Durban City
centre. The attractions include:
PheZulu Safari Park which offers game drives, restaurants with views over
the valley, a snake and crocodile farm, and authentic Zulu culture, rituals
and dancing. Go on safari to Tala Private Game Reserve, just a 30 minute
drive from the Valley of 1000 Hills. Tala offers luxury accommodation
and exquisite restaurants.
Shongweni, Inanda and Hazelmere Dams
There are three major dams close to the city, offering exciting outdoor
experiences. Enjoy game drives, nature trails, bird watching, canoeing,
mountain biking, fishing, a variety of water sports and picnic sites.
Botanic Gardens
The Botanic Gardens, is one of Africa's oldest gardens. It is situated
close to the city centre and is home to a collection of sub-tropical trees,
palms and orchids.
uMngeni Green Hub
The Green Hub is Durban's central portal for eco-tourism information and
bookings. Based at the uMngeni River Estuary, the Hub offers and arranges
canoe trails, nature and heritage trails in the area and throughout Durban.

Surfing
Surfing conditions can be found along the entire Durban beachfront, particularly

One of the five largest aquariums in the world, with a Dolphinarium, a
dive tank and snorkel reef. The uShaka Wet 'n Wild offers heart-stopping
water slides and a 450m river ride which takes you past the shark tank.
The uShaka Village Walk offers shopping and restaurants, and fine dining
on the 'Phantom Ship'.
KZN Sharks Board
The KZN Sharks Board in Umhlanga has a display hall with life-size replicas
of sharks, fish and rays, and offers a 25 minute presentation on the work
they do and the importance of sharks in the marine ecosystem. You can
also experience a 20 minute shark dissection.
Culture & Heritage
The people in Durban, are all richly culturally diverse of African, Western
and Eastern influences. The Zulu people settled in Durban way before the
1820's, thereafter the Europeans settled in Durban too.
The Indian people were brought in as labourers to work in the cane fields,
and later followed traders and business people from all over the world,
but still the today stands the most interesting unique blend of African,
Indian and European cultures.
Zululand is the heart of the the famous Zulu nation which was founded
by King Shaka. It is so rich in history with rural villages and small
farming towns.
To experience the Zulu culture, Shakaland is only a 2 hour drive from
Durban. It would be an unforgettable experience of Zulu dancing, spear
making and beer-drinking.
Woza eNanda
Woza eNanda is a township which offers a tour where you can meet local
residents and visit a few of Durban's important historical sites.
This includes a visit to where the home of Mahatma Gandhi lived, as well
as the institution of where Nelson Mandela cast his first vote that resulted
in Democratic South Africa. Also a visit to a Shembe village.
Other facilities include nearby include theatres, scuba diving, metered
taxis, hospitals, nature reserves/ gardens, health spas, restaurants and
markets.

48.8km - about 40 minutes from King Shaka International Airport to Albany
Hotel
Head northeast towards Sri Lanka Way, turn left at Sri Lanka Way, turn
right at Watson Highway, turn right at N2 - Toll road, take the ramp onto
Outer Ring Rd - Partial toll road and then take the exit toward Western
Freeway.
Keep left at the fork to continue toward Western Freeway and merge onto
Western Freeway, continue onto Comerica Road and Turn right at Gardiner
Street.
Turn left at the 2nd cross street onto West Street, take the 1st right
onto Aliwal Street, take the 1st right onto Smith Street/Anton Lembede
Street and Albany Hotel will be on the left
Directions from Albany Hotel to King Shaka International Airport
Head west on Anton Lembede Street / Smith Street toward Albany Crescent,
turn right at Field Street / Joe Slovo Street.
Turn left at the 2nd cross street onto Monty Naicker Road / Pine Street
and continue onto Western Freeway / N3. Take exit 165 for N2 toward Stanger
/ Port Shepstone, keep right at the fork to continue toward Outer Ring
Road / N2 and merge onto Outer Ring Road / N2 -Partial toll road. Exit
onto Mdloti Street / D144.
