There have been some exciting changes to the landscaping over the last year. In the winter of 2011 we constructed a 40 meter natural lake at the lower end of the property, and planted a beautiful forest of young indigenous trees. These additions are sure to attract some beautiful species of bird life to the area. The mountains reflected off the water in the lake, create an idyllic backdrop as one lazes at the poolside at sundown with a cup of tea and home-made carrot cake.
La Cabriere Country House provides the ideal base from which to enjoy activities all around the Cape. A whale-watching trip to Hermanus or a trip up Table Mountain is little more than one hours drive from Franschhoek, and there are many other places of interest to experience more locally in Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek itself. In addition to being the culinary and wine capital, Franschhoek also offers a number of other activities to keep you busy in Franschhoek itself. Wine-tasting on horseback is very popular, as well as bicycle hire and hiking trails in the Mont Rochelle Mountains.

ROOMS
All our 6 rooms are individually and luxuriously decorated with antique
furniture. The three deluxe rooms are located in the detached cottage
with their own fireplaces, terraces and uninterrupted views of the
Franschhoek valley and mountains. The other three rooms are part of the main house, two of which face the property front with views to the mountains at the head of the valley.

Smoking Policy: Smoking is restricted to the outside . Strictly no smoking
in the rooms; main house and public areas.
POOLSIDE
The 3 ‘Poolside’ rooms are located in the detached cottage,
which is approximately 40 metres from the main house. This spacious cottage
is also where breakfast is served, on the main terrace in the summer,
or in the dining room on chillier mornings.
These air-conditioned rooms, with their queen-sized beds, are the most
luxurious, as they overlook the gardens and pool and each have a private
terrace from which to enjoy the outstanding view.
Unique to the poolside rooms is the open fireplace, always stocked up
with firewood for those cosy winter evenings in Franschhoek.
GARDEN
The 2 ‘Garden’ rooms are attached to the main house. They
have their own separate entrances.
These air-conditioned rooms, with their own en suite bathroom, have beautiful
views of the mountains and manicured lawns to the front of the property.
There is a small terrace common to these rooms – an ideal spot from
which to watch the sun set whilst sipping on a glass of sparkling wine.
The two garden rooms differ slightly from one another in that one of them has a queen-sized bed, whilst the other has the option of being made up as a king- sized bed OR as twin beds.
LARGE STANDARD
The ‘Standard room’ is so named because of its size, larger
en-suite bathroom, and separate kitchen area (although it is not a self-catering
room).
This room is also attached to the main house with its own separate entrance, and is the largest room on the property, however there is no view from the room itself.
Due to the fact it is spacious, more private and a little bit further away from the swimming pool, this room is ideal for families with young children. The apartment can be made up with a king-sized bed or with twin beds, and is large enough for the queen-sized blow-up mattress and/ or the cot (available on request).
LOCATION
We are situated behind the Huguenot Monument at the bottom of the Franschhoek
Pass. The property is approximately 1 km from beginning of the high street
& is signposted from the monument.
(Please note that Junction 47 mentioned in the directions is not the 47th exit, but is 47km from Cape Town).
