Downstairs Bedrooms

Camelia Suite
In the original master bedroom this beautifully appointed room with walk-in closet and luxurious en-suite bathroom and shower resounds with the simple luxury of polished wood and fine linen.
York
A spacious room off the internal courtyard. Twin beds face out over a tranquil garden, the peace is broken only by the cry of Lekkerwijn bred peacocks. This room has a modern en-suite with bath and shower.

Upstairs Bedroom Wing
Up the main staircase in the airy lobby is the upstairs bedroom wing. This was added by Herbert Baker in 1907. Filled with paintings and drawings by the Pickstone family, this former children’s wing offers commanding views of the parkland and the valley.

Old Nursery (twin beds)
The former Nursery looks over the valley towards Franschhoek. Real luxury can be found in the stylishly renovated en-suite bath and shower room. This also gives the best vantage point of Lekkerwijn’s graceful oak-lined driveway.
Peacock Suite
This comprises of a double bedded room and a bunk bedded room. These bedrooms share the recently renovated private bathroom between them and look across the flower garden and vineyards below towards the Drakenstein mountain range.
Please note that the bathroom is not en-suite with the double room. This suite of rooms is ideal for families with children, or adults who want separate bedrooms but are happy to share a bathroom.

Owl Corner
The north end of the upstairs bedroom wing has a door allowing a private area consisting of a double bedded room, a second room with a small double brass bed and a small bathroom with shower. This unit is ideal for a couple using the double room, two couples or a family with children.

The Coach House
This delightful self-catering cottage is part of the farm’s outbuildings. While offering a relaxed, more self-determined environment the Coach House retains the simple elegance that embodies the Main House. Not available for one-night stays.
The Coach House cottage’s large double bed and day bed sleep up to 3 persons. The cottage has a well equipped kitchenette and dining area as well as a relaxing sitting room area with TV.

Please note that although this cottage is self-catering, we do service the cottage daily unless you wish otherwise.
If the self catering cottage is not available guests staying in the main house do have shared access to a small kitchen area (microwave, small stove, fridge etc ) where they can prepare light meals, snacks and children’s food. Crockery, cutlery and glasses are all provided.

Ballroom Cottage
This spacious 2-bedroom cottage was a wine cellar, later converted into a ballroom by Harry Pickstone 100 years ago. The large living room with fireplace is as it was.
The rest of the ballroom has been revised to include a bathroom, kitchen and two double bedrooms. The cottage has a private garden looking on to a persimon orchard.

Specially For Children
In a separate wing of the main house we have a delightful children’s room and nursery with surrounding courtyard. There are toys and games and a qualified Nanny who will ensure your children are well cared for.
A courtyard with toys is conveniently situated next to the nursery, where children can enjoy themselves outside and visit Lekkerwijn’s dwarf rabbit family. Children are also free to play in the extensive grounds which includes a pool, swings, greenhouse and other petting animals (goats and pigs).

In-house Entertainment
Lekkerwijn has a wide range of it’s own fauna, the peacocks and guinea fowl will parade, particularly at any hint of being fed, and Pashmina (our Stafordshire Bull-terrier) will try and round them all up at the slightest opportunity. Wander round Lekkerwijn’s parklands and see some of the most stunning views of mountains in the wine country.
The Muddle, our more relaxed sitting room, has a stereo and TV. Special wine tastings and dinners can be arranged at the house by prior arrangement. We also plan and host children’s parties.

How To Get To Lekkerwijn Country Guest House

From Cape Town (Estimated time: 45 mins )
Follow N1 to Exit 47 or the Klapmuts Turn off, turn right under the freeway bridge up the hill go straight on and at the 4 way stop the road goes over the railway and then take the next turning to the left to Franschoek. This turning is about 1km from the N1.
Stay on this road for about 5km. It ends on the R45, turn right for Franschoek on the R45. After about 5km On the left, immediately opposite the R310 turn off to Boschendal and Stellenbosch, is the entrance to Allee Bleue Wine estate. Lekkerwijn’s entrance is 300 meters further towards Franschhoek on the R45 on the left hand side.
