The Glasgow Pont is probably one of the very last of the real old-time Karoo hotels, and while it may seem to lack some of the features of more up-to-date establishments, few other Inns can equal the quality of our hospitality and cuisine or the convenience of our location. We offer affordable pet friendly and family friendly accommodation, with or without en-suite amenities, through to practical backpacker bunks for the more adventurous traveler. Pont village is located on the Southern bank of the Orange River
just where the Northern Cape meets the EasternCape, looking across
to the Free State on the Northern bank which is reached by means
of two historic bridges; one for the railway and one for the road. |

Self-catering Family Rooms
Our extended family room is particularly handy for families with lots
of kids.
Nominally it sleeps four, 2 adults in the queen size double and two kids
in the bunks.
At a pinch we can pop another two bunks in (there's loads of room) and
the room price stays the same!
The Self-catering Bunk House
The Bunk House is a firm favourite with adventure-type travellers and
meets even the most hard pressed back-packer's budget.
There are four bunks in the 2 very nice, cool/heated rooms (We often split
them for girls and boys) with minimal fixtures but with fun features that
include a wash bak and wash-line in our tortoise garden for keeping everything
fine and dandy on your road trip!
There's a wet room shower, wash basin and loo all with outside access
as well as a built in braai and outdoors timber table and bench set up
Single beds
The Self-catering Dog House
The Dog House is our family friendly, pet friendly en suite room that
features the following: large wet-room type shower with double wash basins,
separate loo, ceiling fan, mozzie nets, queen bed and double bunks with
all the makings of coffee, tea etc in-room.
Just outside in a small rustic courtyard is a large built in braai and
picnic table and bench set.
Leading from this is a large shady lawned enclosed garden with shady gum
trees for pets' or children's exercise.
This leads to our donkey nature trail and some shady, typical dense Karoo
thornveld bush that at most times is teeming with bird-life. Just a few
steps from your cool, well appointed accommodation!

Self-catering Trans-Karooer Budgets
Our "Trans-Karooer" budget, traditional Karoo Hotel-style rooms
are at the heart of our hotel's long 150 year history.
All seven rooms feature wash basins, wall heaters, fans, queen doubles
and good sized bunks for two (and we can add another two if you have extras
in your family/gang) as well as all the makings for tea and coffee.
Served by our hotel's central passage, amenities include a large wet room
shower (much loved by our more burly guests!)two full bathrooms with showers,
two loos and a handy smoker's corner on an adjacent shady balcony.
