to Edenwood Guest House, situated in George the capital city and geographical
hub of the Garden Route.
"A taste of Eden" - Edenwood Guest House is nestled at the foot
of the Outeniqua Mountains in the suburb of Eden, adjacent to the George
Dam.
The ideal base for you to explore the rest of the Garden Route, with
its many scenic wonders of golden beaches, rocky shorelines, mysterious
forests, wild birds and flowers, breathtaking mountains and tranquil lakes.
All of which are united by an overriding theme of natural beauty.
"Edenwood", with it's meandering gardens and tumbling river
that form part of the Kat River Reserve, provide you with tranquility
and gracious hospitality.
The ambiance of this comfortable Colonial Guest Home makes it a sheer
pleasure to return to after a weary day of exploring the Garden Route
and surrounds.
Edenwood Guest House Accommodation
Up-market nonsmoking holiday and business accommodation, at reasonable
rates. Consisting of two well appointed self-catering apartments, a luxury
suite, plus a budget double room, all with en-suite / private shower bathrooms.

As your hosts we will gladly assist you with bookings for Golf at local
clubs, local tours, restaurants, plus onward travel arrangements.
The Rooms:

The Regency Suite:
Also known as our "Honeymoon Suite", this charming room has
a very comfortable double bed, TV, en-suite bathroom with shower and a
sunken lounge area with bay windows overlooking the pool and garden. This
very tranquil room is decorated in dusky pink and green. Suitable for
a single or a couple with a pullout bed settee in the living room for
an extra guest or child if required. B&B only.
The Forest View Suite:
This lovely large apartment style room decorated in hunter green and rich
rust colors, with two queen beds, big screen TV, lounge area, en-suite
bathroom with shower and fully equipped kitchen.
There is also a balcony with stunning views of the pool, garden and forest,
with stairs leading down to the conservatory and pool area. Suitable for
two singles, a couple or a family of four. Self-Catering or B&B.
The Garden Cottage:
Situated in the garden behind the main property, this cottage has everything
you could require for a short or long stay. Secure parking behind a security
gate.
The cottage has a bedroom upstairs with an extra long / high queen bed
with TV, en-suite bathroom with shower, and balcony with mountain view.
Downstairs there is also a lounge with a TV and fully equipped modern
kitchen. The cottage opens onto a small patio in the garden, perfect for
morning tea and coffee. Barbecue area also available if required.
Full use of the pool and facilities at the main house, towels supplied.
Very quite and peaceful setting. The main color theme of this cottage
is green, lemon and blue. Suitable for a single or couple, with bed/settee
in the lounge if extra guest required. B&B or Self-Catering.
The Poppy Room:
This is our budget room, very comfortable with double bed, TV and lovely
en-suite with shower. This room is decorated in poppy colors and green.
Cozy for an overnight stay or single occupancy, traveling with other quests.
B&B only.

of cosy restaurants, catering for every taste. The town rests in a peaceful
country atmosphere, creating a safe getaway destination.

Why limit yourself to just one? George and the surrounding areas offer
some of the highest rated golf courses in South Africa.
Advanced bookings at most all of the golf courses are essential; especially
during our peak holiday season (October to April). Feel free to seek our
assistance with arrangements for golf bookings.
Local and surrounding area golf courses:
- George Golf Club - In a recent survey by a panel from the Golf digest
Magazine, the George course was voted in the top 10 layouts in South Africa.
Bookings are a MUST at this highly recommended course. Wednesday and Saturday
afternoons are reserved for competitions, early morning tee times are
accepted.
- Bramble Hill (at Fancourt) - Scenically memorable yet strategically
challenging.
- Mossel Bay Golf Estate - Considered a "must play" venue by
local and overseas visitors when visiting this part of the famous Garden
Route.
- Oudtshoorn Golf Club - A year round quality country course that is a
worthwhile stop for the golfing traveler. The best time to play this course
is in the winter!
- Knysna Golf Club - Enjoy a gentle stroll through tree-lined fairways
as you make your way to a substantially challenging finish.
- Plettenberg Bay Golf Club - A charming resort golf course of quality
with the Piesang River meandering through it.
- Goose Valley Golf Course - (Plettenberg Bay) Originally a superb 9-hole
course now with an additional 9 new holes designed by Gary Player.
- Pezula Country Estate (Sparrebosch) - (Knysna) Enjoy the challenge in
one of the most spectacular locations in South Africa. A private club
available to nonmembers on a space availability basis.
Tourist Attractions:
- George offers you the opportunity to go back in time and experience
the old railway history of Southern Africa at the Railway Museum.
- Board the Outeniqua Choo-Choo steam train in George and travel through
the most scenic coastal areas to Knysna.
- Visit the Oyster farm and follow that with a visit to Knysna's local
brewery.
- Take a trip through to Oudtshoorn and experience the Cango Caves.
- Visit the Post Office Tree and the Dias Caravel Museum in Mossel Bay.
- Water sports
- Hire, or bring a canoe and explore the abundant streams and rivers in
this area.
- Take a leisure cruise on one of our many lakes or bring your boat and
enjoy the safe waters.
- Go for an exciting deep sea fishing trip or cast your line from the
beach.
- The Knysna Ferries will take you right up to to the famous Knysna Heads.
- Do some shark cage diving at Mossel Bay and Black water Tubing at Stormsriver.
- Visit one of the many sites along our coastline where dolphins and whales
play.
- Extreme sports
- Paraglide along the coast.
- Absail some of the steep cliffs on the coastline.
- Rock climbing.
- Explore the area by quad bike. Biking on the beach is not allowed due
to the fragile ecosystem.
- Glide from one tree top to another in the dense Tsitsikamma Forest.
Outdoor Activities:
- Take a slow ride on your mountain bike on biking trails through the
forests in the area.
- Various hiking trails are scattered throughout the Garden Route.
- There are excellent horse riding trails along the coast and in the forest.
- Fishing along the beaches and whale/dolphin watching from one of the
best view points on the Garden Route.
Directions:
From George Airport:
Exit the airport and turn right at the "T" intersection into
R102 at the airport entrance. Carry on along this road which goes around
the airport perimeter fencing until you see a bridge.
Take a slip road to the left (N2 George) and proceed onto the Freeway
(N2). Take 3rd turning off the N2 (Exit 437) into George coming from Cape
Town.
Take the 4th right into Fifth Street (Church on the corner). Go through
the 4-way stop, continue straight and turn right onto Stander Street.
Drive past the Retirement Village and take next left into Bokmakerrie
Street, down a steep hill towards the forest and after curve in the road,
take the next left into Hammerkop Street. We are No.9, the large white
house with a green roof and the South African Flag outside.
From Cape Town:
Take 4th turning off the N2 (Exit 437) into George coming from Cape Town.
Take the 4th right into Fifth Street (Church on the corner).
Go through the 4-way stop, continue straight and turn right onto Stander
Street.
Drive past the Retirement Village and take next left into Bokmakerrie
Street, down a steep hill towards the forest and after curve in the road,
take the next left into Hammerkop Street.

Flag outside.
From Knysna:
On the N2 from Knysna, after Wilderness you climb through the Kaaimans
Pass up to the plateau above the sea below the Outeniqua mountains.
When passing the Victoria Bay turn turn off on the N2, keep in the right
hand lane which will feed you on to a fly over past the George Mall and
into George itself.
You are now on the Knysna Road. Take the 4th right into Fifth Street
(Church on the corner). Go through the 4-way stop, continue straight and
turn right onto Stander Street.
Drive past the Retirement Village and take next left into Bokmakerrie
Street, down a steep hill towards the forest and after curve in the road,
take the next left into Hammerkop Street. We are No.9, the large white

From Oudtshoorn:
Come down the Outeniqua Pass on the N12 and carry on into George central
by staying on the N12 until it intersects with the Main Road (York Street)
at the traffic lights.
Turn left at the lights and continue up York Street to the red bricked
traffic circle and the Big Tree. Use the traffic circle moving to the
right into Knysna Road and continue straight down this road over the railway
bridge.
Shortly after the large shopping area named "Pick 'n Pay" take
the first left (Fifth Street). Go through the 4-way stop, continue straight
on to the traffic circle and turn right onto Stander Street.
Drive past the Retirement Village and take next left into Bokmakerrie
Street, down a steep hill towards the forest and after curve in the road,
take the next left into Hammerkop Street. We are No.9, the large white

About Your Hosts:
Dawn is a mother of three, homemaker and pet lover. When the children
fled the nest, she gave up being an editor to fry eggs, and open her home
to people from far and near. They arrive as guests and leave as friends.
Stan is an engineer always improving the house in his spare time. He and
Dawn have traveled the World and Africa extensively, they love to chat
with guests, and help out with any questions about your travel in Southern
Africa.
